Ribs were AMAZING. Great flavor, good smoke, fell off the bone, but not mush.
Chopped Brisket: Pretty good. Nice mix of lean and moist.
Pulled Pork: Quite possibly the most dry pulled pork I’ve ever had. It could have been overcooked shredded turkey or chicken for that matter. Wasn’t really even edible, even with sauce.
Sides were pretty good. Not amazing but they had a good taste.
this barbecue is the best that I’ve had in a long time. Meaning that it covers every base very well. some places have good ribs others have good pulled pork but barely do you find both. Along with good sides.
It’s hard to find one barbecue that makes really good ribs really good pulled pork really good beef and all the sides like greens and Brunswick stew etc. This place has them all.
The place is small and quaint but clean. The people are always family always ask and serve with a smile. It’s very down to earth hometown.
One of my favorite places to stop by when I’m on a motorcycle ride. I always plan my day to be going through this place around lunchtime. Hands-down one of the best in Georgia
I was disappointed in the online ordering experience I had this morning. I put in an order at 8am for 2 breakfast items for 9am pickup. I arrived promptly at 9 and waited 20 minutes for my order. In the meantime I watched many people order and receive their meals. I was hoping to minimize my time in the restaurant by doing an online order. It appeared as though they waited until I arrived to even begin my order. The food was not up to par with breakfast I have eaten there in the past. Particularly, my pancake was totally burnt on the bottom and didn’t taste good. I hope to see an improvement next time I make an online order.
I walked in and went up to the counter to place my order. The lady working was friendly. I stepped to the side of the ordering counter line so I could look over the large menu board they have on the wall. Once I was ready to order I placed my order quickly and the line moved fast. I decided to go with the Jumbo Pulled Pork sandwich with a side of potato salad.
Roughly five minutes after I sat down my name was called from the pickup window and my lunch was ready. I sat in the dining room which was clean and decorated with a racing theme. The portion of pulled pork was very good as well as the portion size of the bowl of potato salad. The meal was also served with a side of two hushpuppies. I have been smoking meats over hickory for the last twenty years so I am not easy to impress when it comes to BBQ.
PULLED PORK: The bun was fresh and soft and there was a lot of pork on my sandwich covering the entire bun. For me the pork was dry and I prefer a moist juicy pork for shredded BBQ, The perfect pulled pork for me does not need any sauce. I also could not taste any smoke or hickory flavor in the meat. They have three different BBQ sauces on the table and I first went with the North Carolina Vinegar since I love a hot, spicy vinegar BBQ sauce but I was not impressed. I then went to the Memphis Sweet and Hot sauce and it was good, not much heat but decent. With my sandwich slathered in a sauce, it was ok.
As a side note: They also have a “Brownie Sandwich” listed on their menu which may have the full flavor of the smoking process. I typically smoke a Boston butt roast for 16 – 20 hours over low heat to keep the moisture and then pull the roast leaving the outer skin as this is where most the hickory flavor is. It seems like they may pull the inner parts of the roast for their shredded pork and then take the outer crust for their brownie sandwich.
HUSHPUPPIES: The two hushpuppies on the plate were both excellent and had a very good flavor.
POTATO SALAD: I did not finish my potato salad, it was not bad but it was not what I enjoy for potato salad. It was on the bland side. They describe it as a southern mustard potato salad but it had a strange seasoning or ingredient to it for what I am used to at most BBQ places.
