As a local, I truly wanted to love this restaurant. The atmosphere is beautiful and inviting, and it seemed like the perfect place to bring family and friends or recommend to guests who rent with us. We chose to celebrate my birthday here, which made the experience especially disappointing.

The calamari was enjoyable, and I’m glad we requested the sauces on the side. Unfortunately, the lobster mac and cheese was not well executed — it was very runny and almost soup-like in consistency. The lobster itself was tough and rubbery, and there were several shell fragments in the dish, which made it difficult to enjoy. The shrimp and grits were acceptable but not particularly memorable.

Given the restaurant’s upscale presentation and pricing, we expected a much higher level of food quality and attention to detail. The service also fell short of expectations. Despite the dining room being relatively quiet (only a few tables were occupied), our server was unfriendly and inattentive. Our drinks remained empty for much of the meal until we were able to get their attention, and when the check was brought, we were not offered a box even though half of a meal remained on the plate.

This restaurant has a stunning space and clearly aims to provide an elevated dining experience, which made the disconnect between the ambiance, service, and food quality particularly disappointing.

What a great place to eat! I’ve been a few times, and it’s always good. The place is beautiful, and the outdoor seating is perfection. You can enjoy your meal overlooking the waterway! I’ve had the fish and chips, and the pimento cheese chicken club. Both were very good. The tuna poke bowl looked delicious as well, and my son said it was so good! Whether you’re spending the day at Barefoot Landing or just looking for a great place to eat in North Myrtle Beach, this is a great spot!

This place was beautifuuulll! I wasn’t a huge fan of my lobster roll, as it was cold and I was looking for a hot one, but it wasn’t too bad. I’m sure it would have been good had that been what I was looking for. My boyfriend loved his fish and chips though!

The atmosphere was perfect, the staff was awesome, definitely would try it again! Really loved sitting out back on their patio, the big tree back there is gorgeous, and it has a chill atmosphere around it. Definitely worth trying out!

Celebrating our 23rd Wedding Anniversary this past weekend, we booked reservations at Big Chill Island House at Barefoot in N. Myrtle Beach SC.  Having never been, I made Reservations online to ensure we could get a good table with a Sunset view on a Saturday night.  We arrived early and strolled the waterway, then sat to enjoy a few drinks at their outdoor bar with the most Vivacious Bartender, listened to a great Live Band and watched the cutest Older Couple dance to every tune.  The ambience of Big Chill Island House does not disappoint, 3 tiers of beautiful terraces.  Starting with Fire burning venue on the waterway, Enchanting mid-level deck amid the big tree, perfectly lit with string lights.  As well as the top veranda, with various seating options for any occasion.  We made our way inside for our reservation, not only did they make sure we had a top level view for the Sunset, we were greeted by the Owner, Manager & Amazing Waiter.  They personally came over to wish us a Happy Anniversary with a complimentary glass of Champagne and included us in their Nightly Sunset Toast.  Thank you for making our evening so Special! With great views, service, drinks & food, Big Chill Island is a must when we visit SC ❤️

This was my first time visiting the Big Chill Island House. The hostess was very friendly and seated us right away. We got a great table by the window facing the water. Loved the pillows to lean against on the chairs. The waiter took good care of us and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend and will be back again!

Great place to go and see. My husband and I went there a few weeks after our wedding. It was really n8ce and decorated for Christmas. We loved the Big Chill Salad with grilled chicken. The East Side Cider was very good and had a nice crisp pineapple taste. The prices are a little high but great for a one time tey for us. My husband loved seeing the kittens playing on the back deck. We miss ours so much and loved to see the 3 out there playing. The rooftop bar was very nice and spacious as well with great views of the ICW.

Amazing views of the marina. Ask to be next to a window if it’s too cold outside. Happy hour is amazing. Had the lobster roll, nachos and wings all perfect portions and cooked to perfection. Our server Chase is so friendly and accommodating. Outstanding service from everyone here. Highly recommend!

A group of 4 dined last night and had a wonderful time! Vince was our waiter and was fabulous. The happy hour, lighter portions filled our bellies. Interior decor was modern and bright. Can’t wait to drink and dine on an outside patio in warmer weather… hope we are able to see Vince again!!!

Went here alone my birthday. The food was amazing and their non-alcoholic options are so good! The venue is beautiful! The hostess sat me at a table with a great view. My waiter, the manager and even the other patrons were so friendly and generous. It was truly a wonderful birthday experience! 10/10 Thank you so much!

As a local, I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately, it was just ok. The best part about my experience was the view outside of the waterway and the live music from Super Reggae Man! He was awesome! The best appetizer was the crab hushpuppies, however, the butter and sauce did not taste good. The loaded fries also had a sauce that was too strong. The chicken in my salad did not taste fresh and was more like a frozen cutlet that was grilled. The fish and chips were good and the tartar sauce was the only sauce that was good with our meal. Service was friendly but nothing above and beyond. Cocktails had extra large pieces of fruit instead of actual drink. Overall, the cheap food quality did not match the overpricing on the menu.
