I stop at this Big Boy whenever I visit my dad in Michigan. It’s a little out of the way but it’s worth it. Unfortunately today when I went to stop in the restaurant was closed due to a fire. Apparently this happened months ago based on the reviews but the sign on the expressway was still there pointing to it and even the sign on the restaurant still advertised things instead of saying closed. The guy working on repairing the place had to shoo me away, not even a sign on the door saying they were closed. Knocking off two stars till they finish the repairs due to absolutely nothing alerting me to the fact they were closed and have been for months.

Very good customer service during my visit. The fact it was not that busy helps to allow more attentive service. I had the chicken tenders and they are revised from past and were delicious. Highly recommended as the quality of the chicken was very high. While stores seem to be closing over time the quality remains high. Thanks for your visit.

My first time trying a Big Boy restaurant here in the Midwest. I grew up going to the original one in California. We were welcomed by the hostess very friendly! My family and I all got burgers they were great fries we good, I really appreciated see some of the old vintage Big Boy merch they have on display!

My wife and I were pretty bummed when this place was rumored to be permanently closed according to the listing on Google a few months back. When she heard that they had opened back up we were both excited to try our old favorites yet again.
We got take out because: Covid. The wife got her usual which is the Slim Jim basket. When I arrived to pick up the order the associate asked the cook for the fries to complete the order and she quickly jammed this half empty pack of “French Fries” into the bag and stapled it shut so I couldn’t check my order before I left.
What I brought home to my wife was an abomination. The sandwich looked like either someone sat on it or had already been eaten. There was as much outside the bun as inside and that bun was WET. The tomatoes were hard, white and unripe. Inedible. The fries filled less than half the container and they were soft, floppy, cold, wet and oily. Gross.
Considering the prices of takeout food nowadays you would expect more than this mess.
10/27/22: Tried again after staying away for awhile. Got my order wrong and had a bit of an attitude about it. Anything for the wife…

Haven’t had bobs big boy for 10 years. They have closed most of them in California. Pretty close to what i remember. I mean if you like meat and cheese this is the burger for you. I do prefer a little more lettuce and a slice of tomato but was still good. Shakes are also good.

The staff was super friendly, which was a nice start…but man, the food was bad. We stopped in for lunch and ended up stopping again down the road because we felt ill.
The coleslaw was actually pretty good, so I thought I’d chosen well when we pulled off the highway. But then I took a bite of the chicken and thought I hit a piece of cartilage. Tried again and had to spit it out. The whole piece was just crunchy and full of gristle.
The mashed potatoes had a weird, gluey texture and didn’t taste right at all. The veggies tasted like they came straight from the microwave.
Really nice people, but I wouldn’t eat there again.
