We visited on a Friday evening during Winterlicious, and the restaurant was busy and appeared to be full. Service was fairly attentive throughout the night.

I started with the Chicken Liver Parfait, which was smooth, tasted fresh, and worked well spread on the bread. For my main, I had the Braised Beef Short Rib. The meat was tender and the sauce had good depth of flavour, though the polenta was a bit bland and clumpy.

Dessert was their Pot au Chocolat – a standout and a great way to end the meal. The chocolate was very smooth and not overly sweet, and the cold temperature was refreshing after the richer courses. The whipped cream paired nicely with it, and the chocolate shavings added a satisfying crunch.

Portion sizes across all courses were generous, especially considering this was a Winterlicious menu.

One drawback was the table size. We were sat beside the bar. The tables there are pretty small, and the round shape doesn’t make the best use of the space they take up, so we had to constantly move things around and be careful throughout the meal.

Overall, it was an enjoyable experience with some strong dishes and good service, despite a few minor comfort and execution issues.

The restaurant has reopened after a renovation and a minor relocation—just one door closer to Yonge Street. The same great ambiance remains, along with very good service. Music is pleasant and not too loud.

PEI Oysters
During happy hour (4–6 pm), oysters are half price. If you love oysters, this alone can make your day.

Steak Tartare (main course)
Hand-chopped beef tenderloin with egg yolk, marinated onion, cornichons, Biff’s mustard, and sourdough toasts. Overall, it was good—the mustard added some mild, zesty notes. That said, the dish could have used a bit more saltiness from capers or anchovies, and the toast wasn’t crunchy enough to provide a strong textural contrast.

Tenderloin Steak with frites, green beans, and Béarnaise sauce
Cooked properly to a medium-rare doneness. However, the red wine jus added a noticeable bitterness to both the beef and the beans. The combination of flavors wasn’t ideal, although the quality of the beef itself was excellent.

Crème Brûlée with strawberry
A very nice dessert—arguably one of the most French desserts of all (despite Basque claims to its origin). This was a solid example, though not a perfect one.

Conclusion
Overall, it’s a nice place with good service, great ambiance, and quite decent French cuisine. While not flawless, it’s a strong choice for a pre-theater dinner before performances at Canadian Stage, Toronto Operetta Theatre, or concerts at Meridian Hall and other nearby venues.

Beautiful venue, delicious food an a amazing manager! Came for a late valentines dinner on Sunday the 15th and was treated so nicely by the manger. She really did her part to make us feel like family. Food is spectacular but quite small portions imo. Still left very satisfied after sharing 2 desserts that were delicious! Highly recommend and will definitely be back. Thanks for a fantastic evening biffs team!

Took my mom for a birthday lunch at this restaurant. We had the winterlicious menu and everything was perfect! From the initial greeting at door, to the 2 complimentary glasses of bubbly, the service was impeccable and the food was amazing. They even added a candle to her dessert. Love this restaurant! Highly recommend!

We celebrated my birthday on New Year’s Eve at Biff’s Bistro and had a fantastic experience.

The NYE prix fixe was excellent for the variety offered. We ordered the steak tartare and scallops to start, added escargot, followed by bœuf bourguignon and cod, and finished with cheesecake and crème brûlée — every dish was well executed, classic French bistro cooking, and perfectly paced.

Service was warm, professional, and attentive without feeling rushed, which is especially impressive on such a busy night.

A classy, relaxed way to ring in the New Year and celebrate a birthday. We’ll absolutely be back.

The food at Biff’s Bistro was good.

The French Onion Soup was good and delicious soup.

The Steak Frites was good. The steak was nicely cooked medium rare and had good seasoning.

One downside was that service was on the slow side. Had to skip dessert on the 3 course menu 🙁

Honesty this is my first visit, yet the restaurant positively surprised me in everything – start from its classic and artistic atmosphere, and its handsome location near by Meridian hall. The staffs serve with amazing hospitality, and in regard of dishes – i have never ate any foods that so delicious like biffs restaurant, personally I would always love to enjoy this truly tasty french style cuisine before a show, or simple outings.

Biff’s Bistro is a fantastic spot for a casual and wonderful dining experience. I visited during Summerlicious with a friend and was impressed by their new location, especially since I hadn’t been there for many years. We sampled the mussels and burrata appetizer, enjoyed the steak main course, and finished with desserts from the Summerlicious menu—all were delicious. The food lived up to my memories, and the service was attentive and friendly, adding to the great atmosphere. Summerlicious offered excellent value, making it the perfect time to revisit this favorite bistro.

Go there. Eat there. LOVE IT THERE!

Winterlicious Dinner
French onion soup – great taste, not overly salty, but not too special. Good amount of cheese
Pork belly confit – the star of the show, everything on the plate worked well together. The roasted Brussels sprouts and potato pave were a great treat, the pickled radish helped cut the heaviness of the pork, with a sauce to bring a little sweetness to the dish. Would highly recommend.
Cherry cheesecake – removed almonds due to allergy. Delicate and light taste, crustless. Great way to complete the meal.

Overall enjoyed the food immensely, the room was little bit too dark, and service was excellent.
