My only reason for 4 stars is the price and that the chairs are torture devices (pretty, but painfully uncomfortable.) My partner’s back was thrown out last visit and this time my lower back hurt for a day after an hour here. Lovely place, great drinks. Haven’t eaten here bc I just couldn’t stay that long.

The Yuki Blossom was easily the most delicious, balanced cocktail I have ever tasted. Each sip left me in disbelief, this is what a cocktail should be! Will definitely be back.

This place is awesome. The atmosphere inside is very cool. They did an incredible job of creating the speakeasy vibe. I love all the details. The cocktails were great. We watched the bartender smoke someone’s drink and that sold us .,.we each had the old fashioned. Very good!
We are vegan so we chose to snack on the shishitos. They were very good. The sauce on top was so tasty.

Great experience all around. Cozy environment, comfortable bar stools, and a prohibition vibe with many small details in the decorations. It looks like it has been there since the 1920s.

They have a really nice menu. The two apps we had, the bruschetta the pretzel plate, were delicious! Plus a wide variety of unique cocktails for every taste.

Our bartender, Sarah, was amazing. Very attentive and helpful. She even made us a drink she came up with that wasn’t on the menu (see photo). It was fantastic! She definitely needs to name it and get it on the menu!

Found this place after googling “best cocktail bars in Portland” and it certainly lived up to the hype.

The Bible Club is located in Southeast PDX, just a short trip from downtown and is one of the more elevated cocktail bars I’ve been to in a while. The cocktail menu was extensive and from what I could tell, seasoned in taste and whimsy. The cocktails my partner and I chose were both extremely refined and complex, and offered a unique imbibing experience (wow I sound pretentious here!) that you may not get at lesser cocktail bars. The whole vibe was also very cool, prohibition era, in a random house that didn’t have any signage, the whole “schtick” of the place really worked and you felt like you were stepping through a portal into another time period. The service was also excellent, as I felt our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable, enough so that I requested a cocktail – bartenders choice. It was sweet and bitter and smokey and exactly what I was looking for but didn’t have the words to ask for.

All in all, Bible Club is a slam dunk and I HIGHLY recommend going if you’re visiting Portland. If you’re from Portland and you haven’t been here…what are you even doing?

Thanks, Bible Club!

It’s a speakeasy with a garden at the backyard, I prefer this over inside of the house, it’s too tight. The lighting is amazing and perfect for a lounge/bar and the bartender could give you surprise drinks as long as you let them know what you are looking for

Wow! What looks like a good ole residential house is a throwback to a prohibition era speakeasy complete with the backroom ambiance, delicious drinks, and tasty munchies! Great staff too! When my group was leaving, another group was approaching wondering if they were at the right place…and we assured them they had found the spot. Seriously, I cannot recommend this place highly enough and I greatly look forward to returning on my next trip!

This was a great experience all-around for me. I love and appreciate the music of the 1920s, along with the artwork and newspaper articles and history the people alive today won’t experience.

Look for the red door. The venue is a house. You will be seated immediately. The food is really delicious for a small establishment. Witty names for the cocktails. Plenty of zero-proof options for those who want to enjoy themselves but aren’t drinkers. I just had a beer and bruschetta. Parking is all street so be mindful of no-parking zones.

This review is for the outdoor space, but I cannot find a separate listing.

I really enjoyed this venue. The live music was excellent, and I’ve heard that the artists are always quite good.

The drinks were fun- I tried a twist on a Moscow mule, and the Portland Fog. I tried the second one hot and it was perfect. Very lavender flavoured though – beware of you’re not a big fan.

The food was also really good. We did the baked brie, charcuterie board and meatball dish. It was good, though we ordered too much for two.

Staff was friendly and the line moved quick.
