This is not the first birria pizza that I’ve ever had, which may be my problem. Let’s start with the meat, it seemed like maybe it was a cheaper cut, and it was not very seasoned. The meat was tender, but not very fatty. Next, let’s focus on the sauce. If it is beef broth, i would guess that it is very diluted with another type of broth or water. It also had a strong Indian spice(I’m not sure which one). I get that this is a fusion restaurant, but it just didn’t do it for me. Finally, let’s discuss the tortilla. When I have ordered a birria pizza in the past, the tortilla has always been crispy. If it has the word pizza, usually the tortilla is crispy. This tortilla is grilled, with a cheese crisp topping on one side. The tortilla is surprisingly not crispy at all. I’m a fan of cheese crisps, but I don’t think the cheese crisp layer really added any value. All in all, it was okay.
Usually this would generate a four star review from me, but the food was not hot when I got home. The juice or the pizza. I was at the restaurant before the food was ready, and I went straight home, which is ten minutes away, in an eighty degree car. Hence, the three stars.
Finally, the Dubai chocolate cheesecake. One of the things I love about Dubai chocolate is the texture. It’s like all the stuff is there, but it’s not fusing. The actual cheesecake was good. The crust was not typical, more of a sugar cookie crust. The crust tasted good, and was probably an okay pair with the cheesecake because of the Dubai chocolate.
I might adjust my rating later if/when I try other things on the menu.
