We ate breakfast at this charming little diner. The best part was seeing owners daughter come in, gave her mom a huge hug good morning- went straight to work. I LOVE family owned companies, you can truly see the dedication they put into their place. The food is made in front of you and it is delicious! My husband and I enjoyed Bennys so much!

This is a small little Cafe but it has so much character.
I wanted to try some where new, and I am glad we came across this restaurant.
When you walk in you feel like you step back in time, and the ladies are friendly.
We all had something different and my breakfast all cooked to perfection.
I enjoyed every bite.
Restaurant like this makes you love the small towns

Are you looking for an authentic meal cooked by a Mexican senora right in front of you? Look no further. It’s here. No frills. No Americanized Mexican food. This is the real deal. That means it might not explode with flavor or be too creative, but the authenticity is what is so great here. Strongly recommend.

Benny’s serves some of the best food in Del Rio. I recommend any of the breakfast tacos, and my kids recommend the pancakes and bacon. My favorite item to order is the Super Pericos. They are the best in town!

First of all Benny’s is expensive. Compared to most breakfast places in Del Rio, we’ve spent the most there in one hit. Also, I saw the server grabbing my piece of toast with her hand. That’s after touching menus, handling money and helping other clients. I also noticed the owner using her bare hands to grab raw bacon. I didn’t see them washing their hands. I know that probably happens at other restaurants too, but if you have an open kitchen, you can at least practice proper hygiene. The food is meh and the service could barely speak English. I sensed a lot of tension in the kitchen. I wouldn’t spend another dime at that restaurant.

Exactly what I was looking for. A local old school diner serving amazing food. Had my favorite huevos rancheros! Super friendly and helpful staff to an out of towner!

Although the food is good, I am disappointed with the owner’s behavior towards employees, which includes mistreatment and verbal abuse. Cleanliness is also an issue, as evidenced by dead roaches and the owner’s failure to maintain proper hand hygiene, despite interacting with food, money, and phone calls. The open kitchen does not alleviate my concerns. Additionally, I was overcharged, and when I questioned the price difference, the owner became aggressive and uncooperative. As a customer, I expect better service and employee treatment. I will not return and would give this establishment a zero-star rating if possible. It’s also worth noting that this business only accepts cash.

The older lady who we presumed was the owner ended up coming to take our order after our first waitress could not answer basic questions about the dishes we were interested in. The lady them also had a snotty attitude with the person o was with about asking questions on how the food was make. Our drinks were never refilled. Mine being a basic water with lime. Taco tapatíos were frozen and Sauces were way to thin (watered down). I had chicken fried steak it was good but i can make the same frozen patty type at home. And when we checked out the taxes were outrageous. One more place to check off our list of never visiting again.
