We started off tonight going at 5 pm. It was busy and it felt like we were an after thought. The staff seemed worn out or that they didn’t want to be there. I called to put our name on the list, the person who took my call was actually laughing and conversing with someone else while trying to talk to me. We were sat at a high top that was practically tipping over. The hostess asked if we needed a shim. I asked if we could just wait for another table and she looked at me like I was crazy. So we just dealt with it.
They had a list of their martinis, wine, and beer. The wall also had an extensive list of shots. I asked if they had a list of whiskeys, which they did not, and did not have an expansive selection really anyways, which is fine. I don’t go to restaurants for the drinks. I will say though, that the drinks were overwhelmingly sugary looking and had the makings of inexperienced 21 year olds trying to get a headache after a night out.
We ordered scallops, stuffed mushrooms, the bone in ribeye, a New York strip, soup, salad, and a martini. The martini took a while to get ordered due to how busy it was I suppose. It was extra dirty, up, with Grey Goose. It was not great. You will never convince me that there was Grey Goose used. I thought maybe the waitress didn’t hear me because it was incredibly loud in there, but it was on the receipt. I have never had to ask for olives in a dirty martini, but did tonight because they didn’t put any in it.
We did receive the apps after a while. It seemed like things just took a little extra long. Not painfully.
The scallops were really good. They were hot, cooked well, and the sauce was very complimenting to them with good flavor. At the price they were listed at, for only three of them though, is a bit steep. The mushrooms were decent. But they were served in a bowl of cheese essentially. Not bad though. Just a little heavy on the sauce for me. They were more reasonably priced. The French Onion soup was bland, and not hot. The shredded cheese was not melting at all and it never did. It was luke warm at best. The Caesar salad was nothing special. Had a bag salad vibe you put together from a grocery store. The bone in ribeye was their most expensive steak I believe. It was served with au gratin potatoes and green beans. The steak was cooked from medium well to raw. The potatoes were room temp to cold. Unfortunately, I’m not exaggerating in the least, I could have ate the steak next to the meat from a whopper at Burger King and not been able to tell the difference between the two. It was so flavorless and lacked any seasoning in any capacity. I have never in my life had to put any salt on a steak after it comes to the table to try and bring any flavor out. The New York strip was actually worse in terms of flavor and was served well done. Both steaks were ordered medium rare. The fries with it were ok but incredibly salty to where you couldn’t eat many of them. We declined dessert and walked up to Knokes to get some ice cream. The waitress was very nice. She seemed too busy to really take care of tables like you could tell she wanted to. When she brought out the steaks, she asked how they were cooked right off the bat which is great service or she’s been burned by them not being cooked to order correctly in the past and she wanted to get in front of it. She did end up voluntarily taking 25% off both meals which was a super nice touch. We didn’t ask or complain about anything, so she just knew. And then as we were leaving, she did ask to please give them another try and seemed discouraged a bit. She was again, really nice and thoughtful with us, but we, unfortunately, will not be back. As bad as I want a place like this for Hudson, this isn’t it.
Side note , I don’t know why there is a 3 star review on here based on the menu “WaSnT lIkE ThE OnE iN sT PaUl” it LEGIT says on the dadgum menu in print that they don’t have the staffing or experience with said staff to have the full menu. Please learn how to read before bad reviewing a business.
All around great experience! Will be back often!
