Tried their tea and chotpoti and fuchkaa, loved it, chotpoti had the “Eid er din” kinda homemade flavor to it. I liked the beef bhuna khichuri as I ordered it extra spicy, the chef made sure prepared accordingly to the spice level, as my buddies had the non spicy version. And the legendary Bangladeshi milk tea, if you never had it, I can’t describe the joy and emotion of having a typical milk tea. Will visit again.

Review 1 for Bengal Beaver: This is the second time I ordered from this restaurant. Last week, my scottish husband ordered butter chicken and chicken biryani, I can’t believe how cheap their food is and the taste is so good. The biryani portion was good for 2-3 people if you have butter chicken mixed with it. Right now, I ordered chicken jhal curry and kala bhuna (beef) and while waiting for my pick up order, they gave me complimentary chaii tea which was so tasty. The owner is very humble and he said that they normally cook rice 3 times in a night because it sells fast and they can’t cope with the demand and they are so busy at 11pm. I am so happy for them, I hope their business prospers. Please come and try Bengal Beaver’s foods. It’s really good! They are open from 7pm to 1am

Absolutely terrible experience. We will never visit again. While driving through Halifax, Nova Scotia, we decided to try a Bangladeshi restaurant, but the service and food were not worth a single dollar we spent.
We spent around $60 and received extremely poor service. The staff took 10–15 minutes to clean a table after we arrived, and their attitude was unpleasant throughout.
I ordered the bhorta platter, which was advertised on the menu as including kachki fish bhorta, but instead they served shutki, which I do not eat. Serving something different from what is clearly stated on the menu is unacceptable.
To make matters worse, my partner and I received our meals 25 minutes apart. I was served first, and my partner’s beef kalabhuna arrived 25 minutes later, completely disrupting our dining experience.
The food was definitely overpriced for the quantity and quality. We ordered two portions of plain rice for takeout at the beginning of our meal. After finishing our dine-in, we asked for the rice to go, only to find out they had forgotten the takeout rice we had ordered earlier.
To make matters worse, we were charged over $3 for each portion of plain rice, yet both portions were packed into a single takeout container that is clearly meant for one person. When we questioned this, we were told that two portions had been “fit” into one container, even though it realistically holds only one portion.
By that point, we were exhausted and didn’t want to waste any more time arguing. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

Went there with a few colleagues for Iftar today and had a wonderful experience. Their Iftar platter was delicious and very reasonably priced, with items like potato chops, chicken tangri kebab, beef chapli kebab, onion and eggplant fritters, jalebis, fruits, and beef halim. Everything tasted fresh and authentic.
The Biye Bari Roast with polao is a must-try. Absolutely amazing!!! Despite the restaurant being very busy, Kazi and Tashfi were extremely welcoming and took great care of our orders. Chef Frank also came out to ask for our honest opinion, which was a very thoughtful gesture.
Top-notch food and unbeatable hospitality. Highly recommend!

Stumbled onto this place while in the area, just looking for pizza. I’ve had her high star rating on Google maps so we stopped by. Then realized half the restaurant was Bangladeshi! Tried one of their appetizers while we waited for our pizza and it was amazing! Pizza was pretty good, lots of toppings and interesting crust, but we will definitely come back for a full Bangladeshi meal next time!

Had an incredible meal at Bengal Beaver. The Ramadan platter was a great start, followed by some of the best Haleem I’ve ever tasted.
The highlight was definitely the Biye Bari chicken roast and polao, it tasted exactly like an authentic festive feast. We finished with hot, crispy Jalebis that were the perfect end to the night. Everything was spot on. Highly recommended!

Very very bad experience. I was in Halifax for few days trip and thinking to eat good Bangladeshi food with my wife. My wife telling already price looking little high, but I say okay maybe food will be good, we try once.
When we going restaurant, we get shock. Price in restaurant not same like website. Website showing cheaper price but inside all item $2-$3 more. Why like this? This is what kind of business? Showing low price in website to bring customer and then charging more when we sit there? Very disappointing.
Almost every item more expensive than website. This is not small difference. If price change, then update website properly. Customer not fool.
Food also not worth that much money. I order beef bhuna khichuri, paying $20+tax and getting only 6-7 small pieces meat. This is not acceptable. Taste also just okay, nothing special.

If you’re craving authentic Bangladeshi food that tastes just like home, Bengal Beaver is the place to go. We came with a big group and tried a variety of dishes; chicken biriyani, chicken Khichuri, beef khichuri, and lamb roll. Every single item was packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. It genuinely brought back memories of home-cooked meals.
The owners were incredibly warm and welcoming. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of, which made the experience even better. Despite having a large group, they were super accommodating and attentive throughout our visit.
Highly recommend!!! we’ll definitely be back for more!
