Iconic family-run Italian spot in Belleville. Fantastic food – recipes from a couple generations ago that you don’t see too much anymore. The shrimp beeps is an incredible classic NJ dish: lightly fried shrimp drowning in amazing red sauce with a slight bit of heat. Cavatelli with pot cheese was also very good. Folks next to us were regulars (their daughter had her wedding reception there) and they were so sweet to share some of their favorite dishes with us…it’s that kind of spot. You don’t go there for the extensive fine wine list or impeccable service – there are about 10 wines (all the kind of thing you would see on sale at Bottle King) and the sweet older ladies waiting tables aren’t about speed and efficiency. But that is part of the charm and actually makes it better. In addition to the aforementioned dishes, we had the hot peppers, pork chops and chicken savoy. Vinegar is a main ingredient for the meat dishes and my dining companions really enjoyed them but if vinegar isn’t your thing I would avoid those. Our neighbors shared their spaghetti oil & garlic with us and I will definitely order that next time. So good with some fresh bread to soak up the oil at the end! Cash only as many reviews mentioned. We spent $50-70 each and left super full, each having a cocktail and splitting a bottle of cheap red wine. Hope it never changes and lasts forever. We will be back!

Great place, Chicken Savoy, and a great bowl of beeps! The ambiance was super retro, it was like ’70 or early ’80.

What a wonderful experience! Met I think were the owners (nice lady with a cane and her husband who went to flight school in Texas). She was adorable and made us feel very welcome. Our server suggested great food choices and the food kept on coming! I think we had like 10 dishes come out family style. The service was great and the food was yummy! They really made the night special as we were visiting from Dallas. I definitely would go back next time I’m in jersey!

I really want everyone to read my review and the reason why is soon as we walked in I wanted to have a private table to discuss about business and other things. the server was great but I can tell that the one manager it’s either married to the owner or she just flat out rude to everyone that walks in because she was extremely rude. the chicken was the worst I ever had. the shrimp marsala was probably one of the worst I had ever had it tasted like cooking wine. when I confronted the manager about my dinner because it did not come out at the same time. she really copped an attitude to the point where I knew she just didn’t care about service with the owner. I would not recommend this place and this is to the owner you never know who walks in your front door and the reason why is because I serve people from all around the world even the people that you see on Food Network my word of advice I would fire the blonde who thinks she runs the whole entire establishment your food mediocre at best that’s the reason why I gave you one star because of your management and your food

I came here with pretty high expectations because a couple of people recommended it to me. Unfortunately, it was VERY underwhelming. We only waited 20 minutes for a table. The food is supposed to be family style, but the portions were rather small. We ordered salad, shrimp scampi, shrimp beeps, cavatelli pot cheese and their famous chicken Savoy. The food was “blah” at best. The wait staff was absolutely amazing, they cleared the plates off the table every five minutes and took good care of us. I would never come back here though.

I came here expecting a 4.6 star level place and was so disappointed. I was really excited to try this place for their history but their service was so horrible and our waitress was rude (for no reason). The pasta dishes seemed okay but I didn’t enjoy my chicken dish. I liked the old school vibe and photos. The price was decent too but the service ruined my experience.

Best homestyle Italian food I’ve had so far! Had family style meals with friends, and the eggplant was the best eggplant I’ve ever had . Stretch’s Chicken was heavenly and the flavors in all courses left me immensely satisfied. Highly recommend, it’s inconspicuous but worth every penny!

Enter the doors and you step back in time. Every single member of the is extremely friendly. It feels like a big family. The food is just spectacular. We had the Shrimp Beeps, Hot Peppers, Chicken Savoy, Chicken Murphy and the Cavatelli with Pot Cheese. Each one was spectacular. When you order espresso, it comes in your own pot and it goes on a warmer. Now a regular stop for me, for sure!
