Absolutely love this place. Yes it’s always packed and yes you absolutely need a reservation on a weekend and even on a Wednesday night there’s a line forming on the sidewalk here at 4:50 P.M. , but people don’t quene up early for places that are crap.
The food is always good, the vibe is friendly and the staff are always top shelf. I was heartbroken when the Inn Of The Hawke closed years ago, I’m glad I found a new local in Lambertville and it’s Bell’s.

We love Bells! The staff and food are always amazing! The portion sizes are crazy and the prices are wonderful! Their calamari is always perfectly crispy and the marinara that comes with it is perfection, though I always ask for it on the side so the calamari stays perfectly crispy! Their garlic’s bread is always perfectly toasted and comes out great. I love their marinara so of course I pair that with their tortellini for the perfect combo! Of course I have to get the half order since that is even two meals for me! My husband loves their Alfredo, rosato, and chicken parm. Everyone who works there is so wonderful and kind, from hostess to bar tenders to servers, even the runners/busers are great! Get there early or make reservations as they fill up so quick every night! Highly recommend!

For the cost, the food was underwhelming. My wife hated her shrimp dish. She said it had no flavor, and instead of a sauce, the pasta and shrimp were sitting in flavored water. Horrible. My daughter’s meat sauce and pasta were bland as well. The best thing I can say about it is that it was fresh and clean tasting. My steak sandwich was good but small and the bread was stale and for the price the sandwich should be better. One person said the bread given at the table was amazing. No clue what bread they were talking about because what we got was 3 thin slices of spongy, bland, bread that seemed to be a day or 2 old. I will skip this place next time. Maybe a burger would be good here, but I won’t be back to find out.

Had dinner with friends on Valentines day. Very nice atmosphere. It smelled SO good when we walked in. Cocktail’s were great. Good service. The food was great. My Veal chop was cooked perfect. I would definitely go back. The only reason for the 4 star rating. The polenta was terrible. It was bland and tasted like cardboard.

My wife and I have been going to Bells tavern for a couple years now. We love the food but enjoy the staff and other patrons at the bar even more. We always leave full and happy! Highly recommend over the other “commercialized” restaurants around town.

Sitting at the bar as I write this. Here is what is relevant to know. The place is absolutely packed. Bartenders are definitely hustling and trying to keep pace with the crowd.
Here’s the bad. Ordered soup for both my wife and me. Soup was room temperature at best. Ordered antipasto which never came. 45 minutes after ordering the bartender explained to me that my wife’s pork chop takes longer to cook than my steak. No kidding. She had no explanation as to why the antipasto never came and told us we could take it to go. Steak was bland and poorly seasoned, fries the same. Wish I ordered the burger.
Unsure this review matters as I said the place is at capacity but bottom line….there are much better options.

Great little tavern- excellent service by Rosemarie. The calamari appetizer had a very nice, light and crispy breading and excellent quality fresh calamari. Served with a delicious marinara sauce. The bread they serve on the table is amazing- light and fluffy with a good chewy crust. The Chicken Parmesan was also terrific. The chicken was tender with a nice light and crispy breading. Served with your choice of pasta. Need a reservation. We sat in the back room. The bar was totally full. They have a nice variety of specials as well.

First time visiting this town, our host recommended this place to us. We went there for our dinner. First of us, their food was great especially the soup and shrimp as well as the beef. But the most important thing that made me feel this place was totally different from the others was the vibe I can’t feel from other places. They were having a trivial game. There was a couple who won twice. They were smart lol. Even though I can’t even answer a single question because I wasn’t born in the U.S. But still, I really enjoy this environment and everyone was really nice. I really recommend this place to others.

We visited for the Poconos , during the oh so popular , Halloween based event , “the memory maker trail”. I was super excited to see a very extensive , Italian forward x, pasta based menu as the set menu . I asked for an add on dollop of ricotta cheese to the baked ziti entree. I was told they “didn’t have extra ricotta “ to spare …I suspected it was pre-plated , was told it want when I asked so I took a chance and ordered it . It came on a plate 1/2 the size of the amount of food on it and is was MUSH…not even close to Al dente , a complete and total travesty to pasta . When the server came to ask me how my food was, I told you the truth, and she was not very good at hiding her annoyance. If you don’t want the answer to the question, don’t ask.!!! I wasn’t blaming her for it, and I certainly wasn’t unkind. I was just telling her the honest answer to the question . I decided to order one of the five specials, which funny enough one of the locals hinted to us, but that would be the best thing to do, with THIRTY years experience patronizing this restaurant . My second entree was on the special menu and it was PERFECT So my best advice is to order from the special menu, skip the pasta completely until they get a chef who understands how pasta should be cooked!
