When asking friends for experiences, I had multiple people over-excited about this place. Was told by them I was lucky to have a reservation as I was quite late at making one.
I am glad I did! The food was very good, and the portions were – as mentioned by everyone else – very generous in size!
Staff was friendly, service was swift. Staff knew exactly how often to stop by without feeling too over encumbering.
Lovely restaurant and ambience as well. Will definitely be coming back in the future!

This is a hidden gem in Colchester. 100% recommend. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. You have to book in advance but nice family run business! I recommend the steaks and only going for 1 side as the potions are huge. If you’re medium rare person go for just medium as the steaks are thick!

An awesome and fabulous dining experience at Bella Pais Greek, Colchester! The garlic prawns and rib-eye steak were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavour, beautifully paired with a bottle of Moët & Chandon. A truly memorable evening from start to finish.

Food was waaay below average. Greek dishes definitely didn’t taste like they supposed to, poorly prepared steak.
We’ve tried: tzatziki, keftedhes, Greek salad, spicy beef, boiled new potatoes, peppercorn sauce, T.bone steak, meat Moussaka, lemon meringue with vanilla ice cream. Had much better food elsewhere.
Service on the other hand was smooth, staff friendly and helpful.
After reading so many good reviews, I’m very surprised with my experience. Maybe it’s the matter of chefs working at the time of my visit. I’ve learned my lesson on that already, it’s all about the cooks working in the kitchen.

A night out with friends and we weren’t disappointed!. If your looking for great food this is the place. Two of us had sirloins which were cooked to perfection and my friend had swordfish which she said was as good if not better than any she’s had abroad. Servive impeccable, really look after you, such a nice change from the usual. We weren’t rushed and the prosecco and wine was quality also. We ate and drank had a wonderful evening and it didn’t break the bank, thank you to Bella pais and staff for making our evening so memorable, we shall definitely return

Managed to get a last minute booking on a Saturday night which was very fortunate as the place was full bar the one table that came up.
All the food was great and large portions. Location is very central and easy to get to. Will go back if in the area.

Fantastic Thursday evening out. Delicious food and huge portion sizes. This place never lets us down. Moussaka had great flavour. It’s always packed so book in advance especially for large groups.
I had the smallest steak and it was still huge.
Ordered a side of sautéed potatoes and peppercorn sauce which came in bucketloads.

Visited after years of hearing great things about this place. We were not disappointed. You must book in advance, sometimes two or three months in advance for Friday and Saturday nights. We booked six weeks in advance for 5pm on a Sunday. We were first to arrive but by 6pm the restaurant was already full. We skipped the starters to save room for the steaks. We all had steak, ribeye, fillet and sirloin. All cooked to our liking. With sides of Diane sauce, onion rings, broccoli and chips but be warned the side portions are quite large. Service was brilliant and atmosphere was really good too. We ll definitely be back.
