I’m lovin’ Beef and Bun in El Cajon! This old school burger stand is servin’ up some seriously good eatin’. The classic cheeseburger is perfection – juicy patty, melty cheese, and all the fixin’s. But the real star of the show is the chocolate peanut butter milkshake – it’s OUT OF THIS WORLD. If you’re in the area, you gotta stop by and try one (or both, let’s be real). Beef and Bun is keepin’ it real with good old fashioned flavors that hit the spot every time!

Why do people rave the milk shakes here? They are overpriced garbage. almost $10 for a large milkshake! It is just a large Pepsi drink cup filled with soft serve vanilla “ice cream”. Yep, just a sweaty cup with chintzy lid. Oh, and the straw?! It is made for soft drinks, NOT a thick milkshake. As I ate it with a spoon, there were small chunks of ice in it. Terrible. It was a fresh reminder of why I no longer go here, let it be a warning for you.

I’m surprised I’ve never reviewed. Beef ‘n Bun. First, it would be hard to find a better milkshake in the County, but they’ve always excelled in their burgers and fish (like another place I know ). Fries? I’m generally not a fan of crinkle cut fries, and theirs didn’t do much to change that.
That aside, I was in the area and since I haven’t had anything besides a banana shake in a few years, so I went in for a monster burger combo upgraded with a large banana shake. A quick note – I tried to get a banana shake in Vegas several weeks back. I’ve never seen so many blank stares in my life. Sad.
My shake came out first, as always. But I wasn’t expecting a THREE PATTY cheeseburger. Surprise! It used to be a respectable 2-patty that I could finish and still breathe. Not this thing. It’s obscene and decadent and meaty and cheesy. The onions, tomatoes and pickles don’t stand a chance against the meat sunami. The bun is there to make it look like a burger, but don’t expect it to hold up for long. You’re on your own. Just don’t accidentally bite your hand off. I think B&B did great by making the monster burger just that. I tried my best, but I ate too many of their FRIES. Curse them, these were cooked longer and had more salt than the old crinkle fries. I have no complaints. I would throw in a picture, but it’s about 2/3 finished and gross like a meat-car crash with my face.
As for the banana shake, I just finished it – 90 minutes later. I’m so glad this place has been so good for so long.

Nothing really crazy is just burgers and fries and shakes if you’re in the mood.
Prices are a little out there and while I know they are a single company dealing also with inflation the cost just wasn’t worth it to us door subpar food.
Burger was cooked well though and fries are well salted though portions are small.

Beef and bun burgers were very delicious. Fresh ingredients, kind staff, and very relaxing atmosphere. To finish the meal we had a strawberry shake to-go which was super tasty. Highly recommend you try it out if you’re in the area.

Forst time here. Has a cheeseburger fries and chocolate shake.
Burger was good. Lettuce was crispy.
Fries were nice and potatoey like they should.
The shake…now that was special. So thick I had to have most of it wit a spoon. Fries dipped in the shake took them up another level.
The food was decently prices, served quick, and the staff was nice, so the whole experience was enough for me to be back.

We ordered to go and it was really good. My chocolate ice cream was just perfect, and this is coming from a pregnant woman who has become a very picky eater. My fish sandwich was good and also the fries; I really enjoyed them. My husband had the colossal one, and he really liked it; he also got a peanut butter and banana shake, and that was delicious as well, I had a few sips.

Definitely a mom n pop sort of vibe or local type of feel. The burger was good nothing over the top but did the job and was tasty and pleasing. I would eat here again if I was in the area and wanted a burger. Crinkle cut fries definitely give a old school feel and paired well with the burger because they were good. Once again, not to over state or under state, but this place was good. It wasn’t like I said over the top. Amazing extremely delicious, but it wasn’t a letdown or a disappointment.

Great little spot!!! First time coming here and I gotta say it won’t be the last. The portions are insane. The size of the onion rings and how many you get is enough for 2 people. The burgers were great for the price, the patties are seasoned well, but I gotta say my favorite thing about them was that the tomatoes and pickles were thick cut absolutely fantastic. The staff was very friendly, it was nice that they brought the food to the table, most places would make you come and get your order but they took great care of us. The tables could have been cleaned a little better but a little napkin wipe took care of the salt or pepper leftovers with ease. Parking was easy, they have quite a few spots for such a small place! Overall 10/10.
