First off, the owners of Bee The BanhMi are super nice. That alone won my business.

We came here to try their Banh Mi. While looking over the menu, we saw narrow Banh Mi. My kids love bread so we asked if we could get plain ones. Unfortunately, they are ready made each day, but the owner searched and gave us 2 plain ones that she found for free! How nice of her. We have not even made purchases yet.

We ordered the Grilled Pork Banh Mi and the Hanoi Spring Rolls. The Banh Mi was packed with loads of grilled meat. The pork had a strong lemongrass aroma. It was also slathered with a generous layer of mayo. You will be full.

The Hanoi Spring Rolls used a different rice paper which gave it a crinkle, crispy exterior. The flavor was on the sweeter side. They were freshly made such that we could not even eat one until it cooled down a little bit.

My wife also got an Iced Vietnamese Coffee which she enjoyed.

I can see why there’s plenty of positive talk around Bee The BanhMi. The owners are nice and the food they sell is popular.

I decided to give it another try since I was at the market and it was a very upsetting experience from Poor customer service (staff talking to friends instead of the customers with interruptions) to poor food quality.

The banh mi I had was overcooked dry and burnt. All I could taste was burnt meat and had to throw this sandwich out. The worst part was that I had asked them about it and they said it was normal. I should have requested a refund at that point in time but I only had a glance and took it with me to work before actually tasting it. Don’t let them gaslight you into thinking the food is right when clearly it isn’t. Funny thing is I had the sub before three months back and it was decent for a hiking lunch, but customer service was still just as poor. Why on earth would the service refuse to cut the sub in half and wrap it into two portions with cling wrap. I asked for this because I was going to take it with me on a hike and he argued that it wasn’t necessary based on their packaging, but in all honesty it seemed like he just forgot to do it and argued to not take it back and repack it for me.

The second order was the noodle dish and as well the flavor was lacking and I could taste burnt end crisp like they haven’t cleaned their grills. Not to mention that they charge quite a bit for their food when considering what you are getting. I will for sure not come here again nor recommend.
I fell for the hype.

Tucked inside Avenida Food Hall and Fresh Market is a small, authentic Vietnamese spot serving up unique combinations you don’t often find elsewhere in Calgary.

While the prices are on the higher side, they’re justified by the generous portions and the opportunity to support a local business. Whether it’s the pho or the sub, you’ll get a hearty helping of meat, and the flavors really hold up.

I’d definitely return for lunch. It was great to see how busy they were on a weekend afternoon and even better to see the owner step in to help when things got hectic. That kind of hands-on passion always stands out.

After the complaints to the owner about our last experience, he personally remade that and delivered to my house. And this time everything went right and good. The broth with lots of green onions and cilantro in it (this is the reason we love the broth) and the beef brisket is melt in the mouth again!!
We really happy to have our favourite pho back!!

Thank you, Danny!

We usually order takeout from them, and we recommended them to so many of our friends! We’ve always loved their soup and beef pho, but the quality has gotten worse and worse recently. The broth isn’t as good as when they first opened—it’s watered down and not as flavorful.

The worst part was our order yesterday. The beef brisket was incredibly tough and dry, with too many hard, chewy parts. It was practically inedible. We had ordered two pho dishes and an appetizer, but we ended up having to throw all the beef away. It’s so disappointing to see the quality drop this badly. We probably won’t order from them again.

On a chilly autumn Sunday afternoon, a bowl of steaming pho brisket to warm the bones and cheer the heart at Bee the BanhMi was a singular treat.

Their pho benefits from having probably the freshest vegetables of anywhere in the city. I’ve seen them walk over to other market stalls to get more.

The brisket is delicately prepared and wonderfully matched to a clear and flavorful broth (which I think is the northern style pho). This style accentuates the array of freshly cut and fragrant vegetables complementing the broth. Once you put it all together – the veg, the lime, the fatty brisket – you get depth and complexity, and unique aromatics from the fresh produce.

Got a rice dish that the girl reccomended. I don’t have pho often so I wasn’t sure what to order but this proved to be pretty decent. Little surprised with how cheap it was too price wise. Good value and nice place to eat.

I got a brisket pho (I think? This was from a couple months ago) it was very tender and so full of flavour! Youre given toppings like chile sauce and lime. The meal was so filling! They fill the broth right up to the top of the bowl. Would recommend trying!

10/10 food and a 10/10 service. The food is on the expensive side but it’s worth every penny. Amazing Banh Mi and pho. All I got to say is that one bite on the Banh Mi and it will open you eyes and see what perfection tasted like!

Let me begin by saying I am PICKY about my pho. And we were a little hesitant to visit due to the price point. But upon reading this Vietnamese person’s review saying that it’s worth the price, we had to pay a visit – and it did not disappoint. Clean broth with minimal MSG taste (you know that icky, thirsty feeling after having pho? Happy to report, none). Not salty, not bland. Quality meat, and big chunks. Decent portion. Worth the price. Part of me wants to gate-keep this place, but… I’m taking my time to write this review because the staff were so lovely. It will be my regular pho joint from now on.
