I went to Becky’s and Mary’s Restaurant today for lunch. I was so impressed that I had to write a review immediately upon getting home.

Mary was working in the kitchen and in addition to the meals my friend and I had, she wanted us to try a few other things she made that day. We ended up getting the fried chicken and collard greens for me, the pork chops and potato salad for my friend, and a sample of the mixed vegetables and chicken and dumplings.

Everything we had was seasoned and cooked perfectly!

In addition, the service was top notch. Every employee that we saw smiled at us and made us feel welcome.

Get yourself to Becky’s and Mary’s. You won’t regret it.

I went in on a Saturday afternoon with my family and we had a pretty good experience overall. The place has that classic soul food vibe, nothing fancy but comfortable. I ordered the fried catfish with mac and cheese and collard greens. The catfish was crispy and seasoned well, and the greens had a nice smoky flavor. Mac and cheese was creamy, maybe just a little salty but still good. Portions were fair for the price. Service was friendly and they checked on us a couple times. It did take a bit for the food to come out, but everything tasted fresh so I didn’t mind much. I’d come back again.

I was very disappointed when I ordered porkchop. Picture below, I have no idea what type of porkchop that was? It was very bland no soul in it at all. My husband got chicken no season to it either. Cornbread tasted like it was made from a rustic pan. I will say the yams were good.

Hard to beat this food and the price. It’s just good old-fashioned food, well seasoned and tasty. I’ve had the meatloaf, pork chops, potato salad, mac and cheese. I’ve tasted the chicken and dumplings and mixed vegs. Everything was delicious. And the people are so incredibly nice! Go–no disappointments here. Menu changes daily, There’s a reason they have won “Best Soul Food” in High Point.

Stopped in this morning to try out breakfast. Delicious ! I had the pancakes with eggs and bacon. The staff is true southerners. I love this restaurant. It’s like eating at your Granny’s table. I’ll definitely be back!

I swung by this spot last weekend and gotta say, the vibes were pretty chill. The fried chicken was crispy and well-seasoned, though not mind-blowing. I tried the mac and cheese too, and it was creamy and comforting—definitely hit the spot. Service was friendly, even if a bit slow during peak hours, but they seemed genuinely nice. The sides were solid, especially the collard greens. Prices were reasonable for the portion sizes. Overall, it’s a nice little place if you’re craving some classic soul food without anything too fancy. I’d probably come back again when I’m in the neighborhood.

Stop by on my back to Charlotte. Had the hamburger steak with yams rice and gravy. I live in Charlotte NC , I eats out ALOT. There isn’t a restaurant in Charlotte that can come close to the quality of food I just ate, I’ll be back this weekend with family and friends. Food was amazing and very tasty and the portions , yeah this is true down home cooking.

Becky’s & Mary’s Restaurant, located in High Point, offers a delightful selection of dishes. Their fried chicken is exceptional, complemented by flavorful cornbread and a delightful sweet yam. Occasionally, they feature turkey neck and gizzard, which are equally enjoyable for those with a taste for such fare.

However, it’s important to note that their cuisine leans toward richness, with generous use of butter and sugar. Opinions on this establishment tend to be divisive: some patrons adore the food, while others find it less appealing. I recommend experiencing it firsthand to form your own judgment.

Please be aware that this establishment operates on a cash-only basis and is situated in a neighborhood. While some may perceive the area as questionable, I personally have not encountered any issues during lunchtime visits.

First time dining here, a no frills local favorite restaurant. I would love to see different seating. All of their chairs are attached to the table, gave a 1970’s fast food restaurant dine-in vibe. There was a constant line of customers.

They ONLY TAKE CASH!

Limited parking in the lot.
Food already prepped, cafeteria style. I think they could turn up the heat a lil more on their steam table.

We loved the meatloaf, potato salad and greens. The sweet potatoes were good, with traditional seasoning. I liked the fried chicken. My cousin wanted more seasoning on it. The sweet tea good! We did not try any of the desserts.

The macaroni and cheese was nothing special. Typical NC stovetop cheese sauce style. The corn bread was basic and had inconsistent browning.

What also impressed us, three meals including drinks for only $40.
