My wife and I used to visit Beckett’s in BG very often some years ago, lets say between 2010 & 2015 (could be a bit off on that to be honest). Back then it was a bar that served great sandwiches and some of the best sweet potato fries we had ever had. The atmosphere was exactly as you would image. it was a bar where people congregated to eat, socialize and just relax in general. We were not regulars but regular enough we never had to look at the menu, we always knew what we wanted. Out of all the food we tried, not once did we leave thinking it wasn’t worth it or that it could have been better. In 2015 we moved out of state and just recently returned. Imagine how happy we were to see that Beckett’s survived and was still open for business. Well we were wrong. I’m not sure if they were bought out and changes were made of if the owners decided to change everything up. Now as far as the bar / restaurant itself goes, it’s not so bad. It has grown and added some seating and different atmosphere which is fine, you gotta move with the times. But we still remember pulling up to the back and walking in the back door, down the cramped hall past the kitchen and into the bar area. We were sat fast and the staff was adequate but not the most friendly considering it was not busy they could interact with their customers more than they did. Nothing was off and nothing was missed, I guess we were just looking for the Beckett’s we knew. Now to the food. my wife had the Patty Melt and Potato fries, I had the Cod Basket (6 piece) and onion rings. The bread for the patty melt was burned on both sides and they tried to hide it by putting the more burned side down and the less burned side up so it looked…. ok. The sweet potato fries were also burned so badly that they were mostly inedible. The butter, which was always a staple with the Sweet potato fries at the original Beckett’s was wonderfully creamy and just melted on the fries giving them the perfect taste and texture. Last night, not so much. It really was disappointing as we so badly wanted to like the new place and food. My fish was not too bad through pieces 1-3 but then I get to #4. It was not cooked. It definitely looked different from the rest, it was much smaller than the other 5, which were small already considering the price. Unfortunately I had to stop there, along with the raw cod the onion rings were just basic thin onion rings that were also overcooked. I really do understand what they were trying to do by revamping the space and making it more inviting to a larger crowd and I wish them luck with it, as for my wife and I, we will not be going back. Maybe it was an off night for staff and food but it was too much for us to be able to consider it again for dinner. So with that I’ll say so long to the original Beckett’s, I’m sad to see you go but we will not be back again.

Came from Galesburg Illinois for the holiday and came in. The Burger was one of the best I’ve ever had hands down.
The meat was fresh and cooked to perfection and the flavor was out of this world.My watch almost Drowned and my ears hurt from the Smile.
Now let’s talk about those pretzels…

Visited Bowling Green recently on my birthday and decided to try Beckett’s again having eaten there years ago in its previous location. Great birthday surprise! I remembered it being good but this was exceptional! Service was good and food arrived hot and without much wait time. We had the hot honey feta dip and I will be returning just for this item alone! Delicious with plenty of chips and pita to use to dip and piping hot. We also had the nachos served on tater tots which was different and a pleasant surprise. Loaded with toppings. And lastly the Georgia Reuben which was a perfect balance of all the ingredients. The homemade chips were also a winner. Will be returning. Thank you for a lovely birthday lunch.

Ok so I forgot to take a picture. Ugh! Our appetizer, brussel sprouts were the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve eaten a lot. Yummy we had the special of the day, Beef Manhattan mashed potatoes with bourbon gravy. Too much food. JK, I loved it two more times after taking left overs home. The price was an amazing $11.99. Wow. We got in right away although I’m sure any later we might have had a small wait. Service was nice, T.V.sall around so we enjoyed some winter Olympic ice skating.

Rating from overall experience. I’ve been here probably a dozen+ times since moving to the area, plus enjoying their catering at events. I LOVE the vibe of the Barrel Room, it’s gorgeous and I like the cocktails. No complaints about service at all. The portions are enormous – I don’t think anyone has ever left here hungry, once. I did have one thing I didn’t like, which was the BR burger – the meat tasted old and the bun was untoasted. I noticed it’s a mix of several meats, so maybe it gets ordered less often – just something to check. Or they are frozen, which is so unacceptable for the price, if that’s the case. Loved the fries. I’d love to see drink recommendations on the Barrel Room menu like they do at similar spots!

Highly recommend! Beckett’s has it all and checks all the boxes! Great location just downtown. Be aware there is limited street parking, so you may have to find a parking lot a block or two away. But it’s a nice walk down Main Street and there are several small stores in the surrounding block. Great atmosphere and very well kept. Decent sized and well stocked bar, ample seating, and plenty of screens to catch the game. Our service was perfect! Took care of us without being overbearing. Food arrived hot and in good order. Definitely must try the pretzel sticks! Wow! But save room for the bacon burger. It’s huge! Prices were reasonable for the area. Just an overall great experience. We’ll definitely be back!

The food and the service was really good. Food came out quick. Big portions. Actually ended up being to meals. My wife had Mac and Chunks, and I had the Pulled Pork and0 Chunks. They were both excellent.
