The Beaufort Cafe is the local mom and pop’s breakfast diner of Beaufort, NC. They serve a made from scratch breakfast at a fair price in a timely manner. The food is delicious, the service is great. The pancakes, French toast, and grits are all excellent. The sausage is delicious, but on the spicy side. For a local specialty, try their shrimp and grits. You won’t be disappointed.

Found this great place to eat on our recent trip to Beaufort NC. It’s a small, cozy brick building at a little intersection. You may have a hard time finding a parking spot but it’s well worth the wait. Service is great, staff is very friendly and accommodating, has a back in time feel, good selection of food. I have to say that I have had Shrimp n Grits many times bf but NEVER AS GOOD as this little restaurant serves. We made two trips for breakfast bc it was sooo good. I would go out of my way to eat there again!!

Thought this place would be ok, but when we realized it was about empty we figured must be a reason.. we were correct. My 8 yr old is in a wheelchair and they made a big deal about where we could store it out of the way .. took quite a while to get our food, Which was just meh… waffles ok.. eggs were flat and dry but oily outside. One of my sons found a hair in his tea .. my orange juice was rotten, but it got even ‘better’ .. my other son had a dead fly to fall off windowsill and landed on his plate next to his sausage so he asked the server for more … she literally went to the back, put more sausage in the same plate and the fly was still ON the plate !! The whole place was gloomy and drab, not a place we will EVER go to again !!

This little gem is worth the short wait to be seated, as you will be greeted with nothing but friendly staff, great food and a dining experience worth the visit. Shrimp and grits were delicious and everything I thought they would be and more.

Locals place. Tables are pretty close together, but that makes it easier to meet people in the area and get helpful advice. Food and service was excellent. Husband had omelet and I basic eggs, bacon and grits. They seemed fine to customize the order if I needed that.

Very friendly wait staff, attentive to refills, The food was a great range of selection for breakfast for brunch. Wife had Shrimp and Grits, I had eggs, sausage, pancakes and grits. Coffee was hot and quick. Unimposing building, small dining area and nearly packed at 9 am. I will return.
