I got the pork chop with bacon-wrapped green beans, three berry torte, and calamari here. EVERYTHING– and mean EVERYTHING– was seasoned perfectly. The green beans were sweet with brown sugar and seasonings reminiscent of Fall. The calamari was fresh and not rubbery and the homemade tartar sauce with it packed a punch! The torte was so moist on the inside but with a crunch on the outside of the torte shell. The ice cream, in itself, was a dessert unto itself.
The only real drawback was the way the pork chop was cooked. Although it was seasoned well, it was chewy as rubber and I could barely slice it. That was the only reason for the 4 stars and not 5, honesty.
Otherwise, the young bartender made a great drink (something with blueberries) and was extremely pleasant to talk to. Would certainly be back if I’m coming through LA again but would most likely get another entree.
When we arrived, our party was seated immediately. Our waitress for the evening was Alys H. She was absolutely fantastic. Alys was always smiling, explained the menu, gave wonderful recommendations and told us about options for food and drinks that were not listed on the menu. Alys always kept our drinks full, took care of everyone at the table, including the children’s table and made them feel special as well. The two adults that were there for the party each got a special treat on behalf of the restaurant. I can definitely say if we are ever back in Ruston we will be eating at Beau Vine’s and requesting Alys to be our server.
Found this guy in the parking lot with the most incredible mullet I have ever seen.
The place is cozy and well managed. Menu has plenty of choices for all. Beau-Rita and Peach drink was really good. I would like the Rita to have been in a larger glass, less ice. Flavor good but too heavy on simple syrup. Crab cakes were OK, missing that cajun kick, blackened alligator bits, not good, seasoning was bland, and the meat was tough and chewy, plus the butter sauce is an odd dipping combination.
On to the main courses. All the steaks 6 oz filet, 10 oz filet, and 24 oz ribeye cooked to perfection. Flavor was OK neded a little more salt to bring out a greater beef flavor. Compound butter was OK but should be a little less on the sweet side and more to the savory. Now, the star of the show was the Ranch and Bacon burger. Wow, what a nice dish from bun to meat it was perfection. The sides twice baked potatoes good, fries excellent, potatoes Augratin a little under cooked and lacking flavor. The rolls were great, like a fried donut but savory.
They brought out a fried begneit for our sons birthday, and wow, it was amazing. Stuffed with oreos and drizzled chocolate and well plated. The chocolate chip creme cake was really good, and I loved the fact it was not too sweet. Coffee to wash the cake down was fantastic!
Overall 4.2 experience.
