I came to meet someone here for lunch and we met at 11:30, we were looking forward to the food and getting hungry! I did have a 1:00 meeting so I was hoping to get in and out within the hour.
The food was good. The shrimp Po-Boy was perfect. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, everything was seasoned. Well, it was delicious. I would definitely eat one of those again. The gumbo was really good, I was really surprised. It seemed really thin to me. I am not from New Orleans, but I’ve always understood the first ingredient to a great gumbo is a roux. It seems to me that if there was a roux at the foundation of this, there was perhaps way too much liquid used.
The most disappointing thing unfortunately was the service. The food took over 30 minutes, it was hot when it came out, the waitress was mildly apologetic, she didn’t have a lot of emotion.
What was rather frustrating was we did see at least two tables get their food before us that came in long after us. The waitress said that the chef moved the tickets around and messed up the order. I don’t know if that was intentional or unintentional.
Either way again the food was good and I mean not probably cheap but I wouldn’t expect it to be prices I think were fair for the day that we are living in. I guess I would say that if you’re looking to enjoy this kind of food and you’re not in a hurry, and you’re not expecting it quickly, it’s still worth coming.
I definitely won’t come back with a guest unless it’s like my wife or somebody who’s perfectly okay with taking a long time to be served.
My hope is it was just an off day there’s not a lot of tables so it really shouldn’t take that long.
I’ll start by saying I don’t like cole slaw so I have no opinion on that, but the hush puppies were incredible!
I was excited to see the frog legs on the menu. Mom was totally off put by the idea, but I love fried frog legs and the ones I had at Beau Legs today were THE BEST I EVER HAD!!!
We also got fried catfish and halibut; both were delicious! The catfish was crispy and moist, the halibut was flaky and the beer batter was flavorful.
I didn’t care for the tartar sauce, but the chili lime aioli was awesome!
I would certainly recommend. I will be back just make sure you go before late afternoon or they might be closed for staff break time or have an extensive wait.
All I gotta say is TOP TIER, A1 everything!! Outstanding service, welcoming atmosphere, and the food!!! The food was sooooo delicious. Customer for life, thank you!!!
