Wanted to try breakfast here based off of their reviews. First impression walking into the door is a very nice. Pleasant atmosphere specially, at 7:15 in the morning. Coffee is decent. Not great. Was unpleasantly surprised with the prices based off looking at their menu online was completely false advertisement. Burrito online said it was $8.50 got to the counter and ordered cup of coffee with their breakfast. Burrito and cashier gives me the price of $17 and change. If you’re going to pay that much, they better be the best burrito in town. OK first bite into burrito was decent second by hit a cold spot. No crunch to the bacon or any similar textures. Burrito has good flavor but everything is just a bunch of mush. Tortilla shell not toasted before constructing burrito. Entire left side was cold. All the way through the burrito were most of the sautéed items and potatoes and bacon rolled on. Salsa very eye pleasing but disappointing taste. No rich flavors other than just roasted tomatoes. For a place that tries to be very upscale and charges an arm and a leg. Their menu just does not live up to expectations. Would not recommend eating here at least for the breakfast burrito go somewhere else. You can get a cheaper burrito down the road for better quality they actually take pride in rolling their burritos unlike this place it just felt like they did not care at all. I gave this one a super poor rating, because there is literally no effort in their burrito.

Mean cashier who was a bearded man was so rude and said I had to order with the other cashier with my aunt and cousin when I wanted to pay separately. No way I will ever pay this place for this kind of service!

The food was good but one of the people that worked there was very rude. My partially deaf mother was on the phone for a few minutes and didn’t realize that she was being a bit loud. A gentleman with a beard that worked there came over and was very rude about her being too loud with her conversation then walked away. I understand sometimes people don’t realize when they’re talking too loud and you have to politely remind them of that. This man was not polite about it at all and seemed very annoyed by her. Makes me very uncomfortable to go back there if they make their customers feel like that. The younger lady that took our order was very kind tho.

We used to enjoy Beatniks food, especially the Polenta Benedict. Sadly, this time, the quality and taste of the food is not the same. The polenta and the hollandaise sauce are not as good. Glad the poached eggs are perfect. Maybe they had a change in cooks, considering how challenging it is to find staff. I hope this is a temporary slump.

I like my oats simple. I’m not one for fancy things, but I am particular about oats. I called in advance to see if they sold steel cut oats. They stated they do. When I ordered, they asked if I wanted an accoutrement of berries, nuts and yogurt. I like my oats plain. Oats cooked correctly do not require additional ingredients. When they rung up this bowl of oats, it was shy of 7 dollars. Let me repeat that. Seven. Dollars. I inquired about the price, given that I did not want the other ingredients. They would not adjust the price. To add insult to injury, I got rolled oats. Here’s some perspective: 2lbs of top shelf organic rolled oats costs 4.99. I got 6oz of mushy, over cooked, probably Quaker oats. If you’re looking to get your feelings and ego massaged by a pretentious, over priced, snowflake harboring cafe, this place is for you. If you want a simple, quality breakfast, go elsewhere.

Adorable quaint little spot. They have both indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of room for larger groups. The inside has a cute rustic design and the outdoor is in the parking lot which I prefer to places where outdoor seating is right on the street. They have plenty of options, including healthier and vegan options, so it should be easy to find something yummy for anyone. Coffee is great! Parking can be a little hard when it’s packed but I haven’t had any issues finding parking within the lot. Recommend everyone to try and check it out :).

Well I’ve been going here for years. It’s still my favorite breakfast place in Chico. Fast service and low price just top it off. Even on mother’s day weekend got food extremely fast.

Dry gluten free pastries and rude staff. My first time here I was standing in line, but the checker had a power trip telling me where I could stand. I was standing with everyone else, so I think it’s fair to say she just wanted to be in control. The second time I went there the girl was training someone and she looked up giving me a dirty look, rather than greet me. Both times I attempted to come here I did not feel welcome, but I still killed them with kindness. If you’re having a bad day, don’t use your customers as your punching bag. As for the gluten free pastries, I wasn’t impressed. Now gluten free pastries in the cities, you can tell they put time and make an effort. The gf pastry I purchased was extremely dry to where I couldn’t eat it. I had to throw it away. I won’t be returning here.
