Bean & Barley was conceived as a neighborhood gathering spot serving O’Bryonville and the surrounding communities of East Walnut Hills, Evanston and Hyde Park. The owners of Grandview Grind and The Ohio Taproom came together when presented with the opportunity of occupying a completely renovated unique building in O’Bryonville. Our space is warm, inviting, spacious, and comfortable, with two levels of indoor seating, a rooftop patio, a side patio, and an outdoor beer garden. Bean & Barley seeks to celebrate the craftsmanship of local coffee roasters, brewers, bakers, and artists. We feature goods and products from Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

I Stumbled upon this cafe on google and learned that it is one of the few coffee shops that are open late into the evening. As soon as i walked in, i noticed that the pillows in top of the seating rows and the great cozy atmosphere that allows people to work while minding their business which is the perfect mix for a coffee spot!
They have a downstairs too and both floors have a patio area which I will try once the weather gets warmer. The downstairs is a more quiet environment but the main floor is filled with vibes and background conversations so it offers both ambiances that a cafe often calls for.
The selection of wine has depth which makes it a good spot to hangout even after the coffee hours are gone.
As a latino, i loved seeing the empanadas on their menu which is a great snack or meal and goes well with coffee.
I ordered the usual, dark toast drip coffee, yet again and the flavor was a bit on the robust side with a hint of bitterness but delicious nonetheless. I had more than three refills of it and was more awake than a meth head at 3 pm in the afternoon!
The barista was so sweet and was more than happy to take care of my refills every time i stepped up to the bar!
Will come back to try their empanadas.
Their coffee is amazing!
My wife got a hazelnut latte with the chibata breakfast sandwich, and I got the drip coffee and apple coffee cake. I’d say the coffee, latte, and food were good, but nothing stood out as great. We both agree we’d come back here if we have a lot of people and or because of the area, but food alone wouldn’t bring us back. Overall nice coffee shop.
I would recommend this place very highly. Come on over and support young entrepreneurs.
