Visited here on a cruise and I couldn’t have been happier we stopped here. Got a local cider and locally caught fish? I can’t think of an experience I wanted to be apart of more! Absolutely fantastic! Service was great. And the food was so unbelievably fresh! Go stop and have a great time!

We came to this restaurant on June 5th during our Alaskan cruise vacation.

We 100% love this place and happened upon it via conversations with locals at a coffee shop. In addition it was reinforced that we should go there by hour shuttle driver and employee at one of the museums.

The restaurant itself is extremely inviting. When we got there we were greeted by three individuals each of them very eager to make sure that we were attended to and got a table to have lunch.

Hands down everything we had was extremely delicious. You could really taste the freshness of all the salmon that we had.

Even the local beers that they had on top were quite nice each of us tried a different local beer that is from Alaska and they were so refreshing and paired very well with the different items we ate.

If you’re in the area and are looking for a fun, welcoming and place that has an amazing chef come check out the beak.

This is definitely a hidden gem!
The food is phenomenal—we kept ordering more as dishes arrived!
Highly recommend the salmon slab; we got two of them (that’s how good they are!).
Everything is local and well-made—you can taste the quality.
For drinks, go for the local beers and ciders—they’re really, really good!
For dessert, we had the local blueberries with duck fat and sugar. You can’t get more Alaskan than that!

We tried it based on a recommendation. Prominently displayed BLM and Rainbow flags, but if you can get past that, the food is incredible. Wow!! The salmon chowder and rockfish tacos are to die for. Even the kid’s quesadilla was wonderful. A definite stop if you are hungry for local food. And BTW, they will not accept a tip.

We came to Beak Restaurant for lunch as a group of six, and every single one of us left raving about the experience. From start to finish, everything was phenomenal.

First off, do not skip the salmon chowder. It’s rich, flavorful, and comforting in the best way possible. And the cheddar scone? Absolute perfection. I’m still dreaming about it and honestly wish I had grabbed another one to go! I ordered the salmon on a slab and it was out of this world… perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor.

What sets Beak apart even further is their exceptional service and ethical business model. There are no hidden fees or tips. They pay their staff a living wage above minimum, which makes dining here feel even better. You know you’re supporting a restaurant that values its employees and community.

On top of all that, Beak is proudly LGBTQ+ friendly, just like the rest of the incredibly welcoming town of Sitka. The restaurant also embraces and shares the importance of local culture, which adds so much depth to the experience.

Bottom line: Amazing food. Fair prices. Ethical practices. Welcoming vibe. Beak isn’t just a great restaurant, it’s the kind of place other restaurants should aspire to be. If you’re in Sitka, don’t miss out. This place is a gem.

What a gem of a restaurant. I genuinely wish I had more days available while visiting to eat here! The service was polite and tentative, the food was INCREDIBLE. Our table ordered quite a few entrees and every single bite was tasty. Fresh, made with love, and the perfect sized portions. Hope to one day return!

Really exceptional. King salmon on cedar was by far the best thing we’ve eaten on our two week trip around British Columbia and Alaska. Great space and great wine, no issues.

Had a very good experience here today. Fresh caught King Salmon on a cedar plank with amazing kale salad, salmon macaroni, and smoked salmon nachos. All tasted amazing and photo worthy. Prices reasonable too, in a historic building right in downtown next to the harbor. Our new favorite Sitka restaurant. We’re only here for 4 days this visit, but we’ll eat there at least one more time before we leave.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch after taking a 2 hour nature tour and it was fantastic. We got the chowder and barley soup to start, along with a couple a of drinks (North wind cider and Harper Mountain hazy IPA). For the main dish, we got slab salmon and rockfish tacos. Both of these dishes were simple but well executed! Quite tasty!

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes (which isn’t always a given). We also enjoyed the ambiance as it shares a building with the local radio station.
