I made a reservation (via telephone) for my party of 5. I specified we wanted to be seated outside, and I was assured that would not be a problem as parties of 5 or more are seated outside. There was a pop up shower right before we arrived, so the chairs/tables outside were wet when we got there.
When I checked in with the host, he told me we could not be seated outside given the weather (which I understood). Here’s where it got sticky: the option he gave me for our party of 5 was to be seated indoors at 2 separate tables. I asked if he could put the tables together (for obvious reasons – a group of 5 women on vacay want to sit together), and was told no.
I was taken aback, and let him know (in a very kind manner) we wanted to be seated together, and 2 tables wouldn’t work. He then said he could wipe the chairs and table off, but it may take a minute. Unfortunately, the kindness and patience I showed him was not reciprocated. He appeared inconvenienced and visibly unhappy.
We were seated after a few minutes; the chairs and table were clean, dry, and I was encouraged the night would pick up (service-wise). I was mistaken.
Our server (I believe his name was Dexter; however, I’m not certain) left much to be desired. He was less than friendly, and was inattentive. My dirty dinner plate sat long enough I had to push it toward the center of the table to get it out of my way, and the remaining dirty dishes weren’t cleared when I was served my dessert wine (pic attached). Throughout the meal, I never felt welcome by him.
This dinner was a gift from me to my friends, on our last night in Destin. The night was impacted negatively by the lack of customer service, and that should never be the case – esp when you’re making a considerable purchase. I will more than likely give them another shot, given my other experiences were truly stellar. On the flip side, had this been my first time there, it most certainly would have also been my last.
The outdoor seating was comfortable, which was good because our dinner was nearly 3 hours long.
I’m not sure if this is normal for this establishment but it felt very long to us, it could have been a little quicker on service but outside of that we would go back, maybe we’d ask if others had slower service too?
Outside of the time and how late it was at night, we would go back here for a special occasion. Certainly a great spot that feels like local secret.
Nonetheless, there are few places to eat on the water, so we were excited to try it! Especially because my father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer this year, and this could very well be his last year here. It was a special night for us.
Our party of 6 was seated at a great table outside. Had a great view, drinks and appetizers, and were very excited about the entrees. However, a brief weather cell was rolling in, and we were told we’d need to leave our table to go either inside or to the covered patio. Bummer, but totally get it.
However, we were told they would be splitting us up into two tables of 3…what?! That changes a dynamic. When we asked about eating inside the NEARLY EMPTY dining room (see pictures), the manager was insistent that was not possible and they never push tables together, and we should have factored this risk when we decided to dine with them. Incredibly disappointed, we cancelled our entrees, left, and without finding anywhere else open after 9, went home.
This was our only night out on our 2 week trip, so we were so looking forward to this, but ended it eating leftovers in our nice clothes at home.
Unfortunately the New Year’s Eve dinner was a huge disappointment.
My husband and I were told from the locals that this was the place to be for FINE DINING .
So we thought, will go there for our New Years Dinner before our other events, thinking we would blend in with everyone else because it’s “fine dining” and New Years Eve dinner at 7:30.
Not the case, we felt so uncomfortable and way OVERDRESSED.
There were people there in jeans, polo shirts, tank tops , and camo with very little people dressed up as we were.
You walk in feeling like it’s a Cracker Barrel, the male host was watching TV, seeming to be bothered with everyone who came in.
We were told they were running 40 mins behind, which happens, so we thought we sit at the bar and wait.
NO there’s no place to sit in the lobby, when there’s groups of people waiting and the outside bar would’ve worked, if it wasn’t cold and windy (on the beach). No one wants their hair ruined when they’re dressed up.
We finally get seated in a corner area where you felt you were squeezed in.
The table was not prepared as “fine dining” proper plating, silverware and glassware.
You were given ONE fork and one knife and you used that ONE fork throughout your entire meal!
Then at the end of our meal a different server came by grabbing the rest of our plates stating “don’t you wanna keep your fork for dessert”, I said NO.
And the Key Lime Pie should not have been the star of the entire meal for the price we paid.
If you’re looking for a place to go, after golfing, or shopping with the ladies, and you would like to sit on the deck while enjoying the beautiful Gulf views, this is your place!
But if you’re looking for fine dining, this is not the place go.
Our last night we left the beach and went to the desk to make reservations, to late for anything out side till 8pm! We settled for 5pm bye the window.
We were the first to arrive, the wife had mixed green salad, with walnuts and strawberries, snapper, corn risotto I had shrimp cocktail, grouper, green beans and we shared a side of Brussels sprouts cooked perfectly. Service was great, food was excellent, a wonderful meal and experience, atmosphere.
