This was our first time at BD’s Mongolian Grill. We were seated right away, and the restaurant itself was clean. Our server was friendly and did a great job explaining how the unlimited Mongolian grill and salad bar work, which we appreciated.
As for the food, there are tons of options to build your bowl — shrimp, crab meat, steak, lots of vegetables, and a wide variety of sauces. You definitely won’t feel limited when choosing ingredients.
The reason for the 3-star rating is the grill experience. When it was my turn, the grill didn’t appear very clean from the previous customers. My food was placed very close to, and mixed in with, food from people before me. There were black, burnt pieces mixed in from the cooks not scrubbing the grill and the long utensils used to cook/mix the food looked caked with old food residue. I didn’t see the grill or utensils cleaned between several customers (at least 5–10 people), and you could taste burnt bits in the food, which honestly grossed me out a bit.
On a positive note, the service was good, the potstickers were tasty, and the restaurant overall was fairly clean.
I think this place has potential, but more attention to grill cleanliness would make a big difference.

Pick your noodles, choose your meat and toppings, add some sauce, and watch as your meal is cooked right in front of you at BD’s Mongolian Grill! We absolutely love going to this Mongolian grill because of how many options they have available to create your perfect dish. They have a variety of noodles and meat to select as well as wide variety of veggies to put on top. I always put edamame, corn, broccoli and onions on mine! They have a large selection of sauces and spices with varying sweet and spicy levels. Along with the all you can eat Mongolian grill, they also have tasty apps, mouthwatering desserts, as well as a salad bar and soup station. If “all you can eat” isn’t up your alley, they have a handful of meals to choose from on their menu. If you are craving Mongolian food, make sure to try BD’s!

I think for a family of 5 spending well over $100 to go out should have had a better experience.
My kid had some raw chicken in their bowl.
The soup was kinda bad. Tortilla and tomato. It Seemed old, like it had hung out a few days.
On the positive, the choices, options and sauces were great. Weirdly, they had a Cajun selection, but not any sauce or suggestions for sauce to go with it. Just meh. Won’t bother going back.

We came because we could smell the grill! It was towards the end of the night so the place was basically empty. Service was superb. We ordered our dishes rather than did the buffet, but since they cook it up it would have been fresh, the buffet was just messy and not well kept up. Overall a really good experience.

It’s really good but it has got more expensive over the years. Another reason why I gave 3 stars instead of five is because you now have to ask for a new bowl from your waiter instead of just being able to grab a new one whenever you’re ready like a couple years ago when I last came here. I’m sure dumb people ruined it for the rest of us by grabbing more than one bowl at a time or getting too much food and wasting it. Certain people ruin everything for the rest of us respectful folks. So that was disappointing. We came right before it got busy so we didn’t have any issue getting a new bowl brought to us by the waiter but I can imagine it gets annoying when it’s busy. At first it wasn’t busy for us at all and our stir fry bowls came out perfect. Then at the end it became really busy and on my last bowl I went up there to the grill and the entire grill was full, no big deal but they had to work fast because it was busy and I got someones shrimp and some mushrooms tossed into my section. I don’t eat either of those things so it was kinda gross to me. Just be mindful of this place if you have any food allergies and have them cook your food separately if possible. Maybe come when it’s not busy so this doesn’t happen to you and your bowl is perfect. Other than that, wonderful food and it’s fun to make the bowls. Miles was our waiter and he was great! He gave us the best service I’ve had in a long time and I will be back one day. He is a great waiter and should be promoted.

The waitress was nice. It wasn’t too busy. however, when the waitress gave us our bowls, they were filthy. The cups that hold sauce at the food bar were also filthy and gross. My husband pulled one off of another and it had sauce still in it ♀️. They also were wet & had visible water on them but the water appeared milky not clear. The independence location is waay better and cleaner. My family & I had 1 bowl and got out of there. Idk if they’re not paying attention or if the dishwasher is broke but I’d advise ANY & EVERYONE to check those little sauce cups.

I love to visit this place, and miss it when I go back home! They have good quality steak, seafood and many other proteins along with a wide variety of vegetables. But the real difference is their selection of ssuces to enhance your meal…so many to choose from. Today I chose terryaki, orange sayce and yum yum sauce (from hibachi). It was delicious! They have great appetizers and deserts as well (if you can find room to eat them).

I recently dined at Mongolian BBQ in Overland Park, Kansas, and the experience left a lasting impression on my taste buds. While the ambiance might not be the highlight, the interactive dining concept stole the show.
The unique feature of choosing your preferred meats and having the chefs prepare them right in front of you added an exciting touch to the dining experience. The variety of meats available for selection, coupled with the chef’s skillful preparation, resulted in a delightful array of flavors. The freshness of the ingredients and the mastery of the cooking process were evident in every bite.
The ability to customize my plate with a diverse selection of vegetables and sauces added another layer of satisfaction to the dining experience.
While the ambiance may not be the restaurant’s strongest suit, the exceptional food and interactive cooking process make Mongolian BBQ a must-try for those seeking a delicious and entertaining dining adventure in Overland Park. If you’re a fan of bold flavors and enjoy a bit of culinary theatre, this is a spot worth checking out.
