BBQ2U is right off the highway in gig harbor. The atmosphere was nice. The staff was very kind and attentive. You place your order deli style where they weigh out all of your meats. They had a very large variety of meats and sides to choose from. They even have some sandwich options. They import some beer that you cannot get in the local area like shinerbock. I would give my overall score a 7.3/10. They’re barbecue sauce really carried a lot of the flavor that I was hoping would be in the meats. All of the meat was very juicy and had great smoke rings. The prices are what you would expect for our area. About $30 per person.

BBQ2U serves up some of the best Texas-style BBQ I’ve found in the Puget Sound region. It’s simple, no-frills, and authentic

The beef dino rib is phenomenal—deeply flavorful, tender, moist, and crusted with a heavily peppered bark. The brisket is just as good, but a smidge lighter (which is saying something for brisket). Both are excellent and plenty moist on their own, but either their regular or spicy BBQ sauce—classic Texas sweet and smoky—pairs great.

I also tried the BBQ boat, but that left a little to be desired. The pork is good, but a little dry and lacking in flavor. The beef sausage is tasty but pales in comparison to the other beef options. The potato salad and the baked beans, however, would be plenty worth sides on their own.

The fried pickles and fried okra are also both excellent choices of sides, but make sure you get a big cup of ranch for dipping. I’d skip the cornbread—it’s a little bland and dry.

Even though a few items could use a little work, there’s enough perfection on this menu to build a phenomenal meal. But their beef options run out, especially on weekends, so arrive early and call ahead if you’re unsure!

BBQ2U is certainly a spot worth visiting in Gig Harbor. The food here is genuinely incredible, high quality, and very satisfying.

The meat is wonderful. It is properly smoked, tender, and full of flavour. If you choose the brisket, ribs, or pulled pork, the quality of the barbecue is superb.

Their side dishes are also excellent. I highly recommend the Mac and Cheese. It is properly good, creamy and rich, and complements the meat very well.

The service is very efficient. The friendly staff are welcoming, and the quick service means there is hardly any wait time. The restaurant has a very delightful atmosphere, making it a good, peaceful place for a meal.

Overall, everything about BBQ2U is first-rate. I highly recommend popping in for a visit.

The alluring promise of authentic central Texas BBQ (outside of central Texas, of course) is very common among ‘que restaurants. Very few deliver. BBQ2U is one of those few. In fact, it may be the best Texas BBQ I’ve had outside of the state. Everything from the atmosphere, the smell, the service, and especially the food transports you to the Lone Star state.

Brisket is S&P. Ribs are spare, savory, and unsauced (though their sauce served optionally is amazing), and the food all comes on a tray with pink butcher paper.

You’d be hard pressed to find better BBQ in Western Washington.

Moving to Tacoma from Houston it’s been a Q desert. Even Houston has just a few good BBQ places.

BBQ2U is a legit Texas Q restaurant. From the dining room setup to the walk up window to shaving the meat right in front of you is authentic.

I’m not a big beef fan but my wife loves a good brisket. And she likes the Brisket at BBQ2U. l order the turkey but it’s a bit dry. But still delicious.

They only have one BBQ sauce which is unheard of in Texas. Bug it’s still legit.

Best Q in WA.

Not TX BBQ but meets TX average!
Fatty brisket was moist and fatty but a bit underwhelming and not as smoky as I’m used to. Pull pork looks good but a bit dry and needed sauce for taste. Sausage is good.

Note on my rating system: Sharing this as I believe many might assume a 3-star review indicates a negative experience.

5 stars: Exceptional! Outstanding food, service, and/or experience—well worth traveling for. (For example, we often drive from San Antonio to Austin just for Uchi.)
4 stars: Surpasses expectations in terms of food, service, and/or ambiance.
3 stars: Solidly good or meets expectations. I would revisit any place rated 3 stars or higher.
2 stars: Falls below acceptable standards for food or service.
1 star: Best to avoid.

I’ve been a few times, and yes, it’s Texas style BBQ, but in the tradition that there is also a lot of just ok BBQ in Texas. If that’s what you’re craving, then it gets the job done. Always appreciate being able to get a cold Big Red or Shiner with my lunch.

The only reason I gave it a 3 for service is that it is not that type of place. Order at the counter and experience some of the best barbecue west of Texas. I keep going back to try the next thing. I prefer going at lunch so that I don’t experience them selling out before I get to try what I wanted. The brisket is melt in your mouth. I’m hoping to try the chicken next time (they were sold out last time).

I came across this place on TikTok, and as a Texas native who loves good BBQ, I had to give it a try. I arrived around 1:30 PM on a Friday. Since it’s in a strip mall there was plenty of parking.

The first thing that caught my attention was the authentic presentation–they serve your meal on paper with a metal tray, which I really appreciated.

I ordered the Monster Brisket Sandwich, 1/2 lb of chicken, mac and cheese, fries, and a drink. The total came to $30, which seemed reasonable given the generous portions. The sandwich alone could be a meal, and the one meat, two sides option was definitely filling.

The mac and cheese was decent–nothing exceptional, but not bad. It lacked that rich, cheesy flavor but was still enjoyable. The bread on the sandwich was particularly good. The fries were made fresh to order, arriving piping hot and perfectly seasoned. They were easily the highlight of the meal. The BBQ sauce also stood out with its balanced tangy sweetness and a hint of Dijon mustard.

Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. Both the brisket and chicken were shockingly bland with minimal smoke flavor. The chicken, despite being served from a pan of broth, was so dry it was almost inedible. It seemed old, lacking any real flavor, and required a heavy dousing of sauce just to be tolerable. The brisket, though it had a nice char, was even worse–completely devoid of seasoning and tasted far from fresh. If you have to drown your meat in sauce just to make it halfway enjoyable, something is seriously wrong. Despite my best efforts, I ended up tossing half of the chicken and nearly all of the brisket. Both were utterly flavorless and not worth the struggle to choke down.

I actually started eating before they brought out my fries, and the blandness and dryness of the meat made me consider asking for a refund. The fries arriving later were the only saving grace of the meal.

The restaurant was almost empty, but it was clean and cool, a nice change since BBQ joints can sometimes be smoky or stuffy. Everything was organized, with sauces and utensils easily accessible. However, the customer service left much to be desired–the staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than engaging with customers.

It’s a real shame because I had high hopes based on the reviews, but I can’t recommend this place. Despite a couple of bright spots, the overall experience was underwhelming, especially for someone who loves BBQ as much as I do.

The brisket and ribs were pretty good. The bbq sauce was really good and so were the fries too. The Cole slaw, potato salad, and beans could use some more flavors . The Cole slaw had a weird taste to it. Overall it was pretty decent. Bathroom was quite disgusting and had no soap, which makes me question the cleanliness of their hands. Staff was pretty friendly. Overall it’s a 3/5 experience.
