I’ve been on the hunt for good BBQ in Washington for a LONG time… My search was finally successful today when I discovered BBQ Pete’s in Lakewood Towncenter.
The trifecta of scrumptulessence was in full effect; 1. Cleanliness and attention to detail, 2. Amazing customer service, & 3. (Most importantly) High quality food. From the moment you walk in, your nostrils are greeted with the rich smells of BBQ, shortly after you’re greeted by pleasant team members that are actually happy to help you. The menu has the right amount of choices and the simplicity a place focused on BBQ should. The atmosphere is clean, spacious, and feels inviting.
After you order, you walk to your left and find an amazing assortment of accoutrements that continue to bolster the authentic BBQ experience. There is unlimited BBQ sauce (chose the spicy option for optimal flavor), fresh pickles & onions, and to my amazement real sweet tea as a beverage option (a true unicorn in WA State).
The brisket made me feel like I was in Texas, the BBQ beans reminded me of Grandma, and the Mac & Cheese pushed me over to edge to fully fledged food coma status. God bless BBQ Pete’s, may you ever bring joy to taste buds as you have mine.
P.S. They have free soft serve vanilla ice cream for desert!

It’s expensive and the food is just okay. The pulled pork was mushy and the online ordering didn’t allow me to order it Memphis style like their menu indicates. The rib had good flavor but not very moist. The fries were fine. The cornbread muffin tastes like a cupcake but the honey butter was horrible. I think it may have gone rancid because it tasted like bad cheese and had a bad odor. No date written on the side so I suspect it went bad. I probably won’t go here again. Nothing seemed particularly fresh.

The food was good. I really liked the size of the corn muffins. They are crisp on the outside & soft on the inside & the honey butter is yum! They don’t skimp on the meat & the buns are soft & fresh. The meat doesn’t have an overpowering smoked flavor, which we liked. To us, it was your standard, good, barbeque food, which is hard to find out here. We also liked the free soft serve ice cream machine.
If we’re in the area, we might pop back in. Also, the restaurant & bathroom is clean so that’s appreciated.

1st time family visit and we all loved it! Impressive to see so many ribbons and prizes for their barbecue! The Texans in the family were wondering what the influence was so we can look on the website and it was surprising to see that it was just Washington grown.
We all loved the brisket sandwich whether it was the sliced or chopped version. The sides are very large and quite delicious. Complimentary self-serve ice cream at the end is a sweet touch (pun intended).
Google needs a price row…I ranked service as 4 stars only because price is a bit high.

One day some time ago, I go to Pete’s to get some fries because for me personally that’s the only thing that’s really good there. Everything else is very mid, once in a while I’ll get burnt ends, but I stopped getting those because they’re always insanely tough. Anyways, on that particular day I found out that they now sell wings. This was great for me because how can you mess up smoked wings. Being that I’m a wingette girly, I asked if I could order all flats, and right away was told no, but Sam the manager was there. She stepped right in, and said “absolutely you can get all flats.” So, I ordered, then I say to Sam well what about when you’re not here, and they give me a problem with ordering all flats? She said ” just let them know that Sam said it is okay, and you should not have any problem.” To my surprise the wings were pretty good. However, I haven’t been able to order them since. I’ve been in there 4 different times, and was told by 4 different employees very rudely that I cannot order just flats. It doesn’t matter that I keep telling them that Sam said that I could. I was in there 2 days ago for fries, and received the same treatment. So, I asked the young lady when will Sam be in so that I could talk to her because they never honor what I was told by her. She replied, “she’s only here on the weekends” but would not give me a specific time. Sam if you’re the one reading this. I just want you to know, I’ve never been able to order the wings since that day, and your employees are never nice about the situation.

First off, let me say that I’m real picky about BBQ places. There’s a lot that goes right here, though.
Saw them and I stopped in on a whim for some lunch. Immediately the smell hits you when you walk in the door – that solid smoked meat smell. They’ve got a good selection on the menu and it is priced right for BBQ.
I got a Double Dawg Deal with a Spicy Chop and a Brisket and cheese. The B&C was very cheesy. The spicy chop had great flavor.
Drinks were fabulous here too. I’d never even heard of Cranberry Pineapple as a juice combination, but it hit the spot. All the sauces were pretty good as well. I prefer spicy sauces and found the Zesty to hit the mark.
And complimentary soft serve Cones. Yes. Free ice cream. Full stop.
I’m not down in this area often, but when I’m around Lakewood, I’d definitely hit this place again.

Their half salad is so big I can never finish it. It’s literally the most delicious salad I’ve ever eaten. And they give half price discount to those in uniform. It’s amazing. 5/5 would recommend.

Excellent BBQ from a world-class quality BBQ maker. The sandwiches we had were brimming with meat, had exceptional flavor and the fries were delicious. The inside was very clean and tidy with a remarkably thoughtful hand washing station – nice touch. I liked the complimentary ice cream to finish the experience. Unfortunately, the prices are high. High enough to be a detractor from me going often and will be back only as a special treat.

I’ve been trying to find decent BBQ in the area and decided to give this place a chance since it’s close to home. Unfortunately, the meal was extremely disappointing. The ribs were dry, tough, and barely had any sauce. The mac and cheese was almost inedible, just plain noodles with hardly ANY cheese. The corn muffin was burnt, dry, and crumbling apart. The only thing I enjoyed was the complimentary ice cream cup. I’m not sure if this was just an off day, but I won’t be ordering from here again. I feel like I wasted $46.
