To think I actually recommended this place… I truly hope my friends didn’t experience what we did. If they did, I sincerely owe them an apology.
Upon walking in, the host was on the phone with headphones in. At least they were attentive enough to seat us quickly. However, our server took a solid minute to greet us. And they were sitting in the booth directly behind us. At the time, we were one of only two tables in the entire restaurant.
Once greeted, we placed our drink, appetizer, and entrée orders. The drinks and appetizer came out quickly. We enjoyed the appetizer, and just as we finished, our entrées arrived — so kudos to the server for good pacing.
That said, the food was a huge letdown. The crab was overcooked — as were the potatoes, shrimp, and corn. For the money I’m spending, I don’t expect mushy potatoes, mushy corn, bendy/dry crab legs, and tough shrimp. It honestly makes me sad. I used to love this place and even touted it as one of the best seafood spots in southern DFW.
Unfortunately, the service has gone downhill too. The host stayed seated the entire time, still on their phone with headphones in. The server didn’t fare much better. Aside from the initial greeting and taking our order, we were checked on only twice — once after the food came out, and once to ask if we were ready for the check. The rest of the time, they sat in the booth behind us, phone in hand and an AirPod in one ear.
I’ll admit I asked for the check, but I realized I didn’t have my physical card with me. Thankfully, technology helped —“lol”— and I planned to use Apple Pay. Instead of checking on us when they didn’t see a card, the server just occasionally snuck glances from the booth behind me as I watched Monday Night Football. Eventually, I had to flag them down to let them know I’d be using Apple Pay.
The 10% tip reflected what I felt was a half-done job. Besides taking and delivering our order, not much else was done. Sorry, not sorry.
I came here because it was consistent — I could count on a great meal, great service, and a great time. Now, it’s about as consistent as the “Satisfactory” rating taped to the glass on the right side of the door.
Unfortunately, after tonight, I won’t be back. However, I’ll leave a couple of suggestions for future improvement. Find a new service crew and get some hand soap in the mens restroom. I really hope that half-empty, rusty can of Scrubbing Bubbles next to the sink wasn’t actually what you intended me to wash my hands with.
PREVIOUS REVIEW: Love the location and the ambiance. Food is ok. Loved that they had the option to serve headless shrimp.
Im used to eating fish from another spot that we love so I compared my food to that place and the taste just didn’t measure up.
I will go back and dine in. My rating is based on taste and presentation.
