Bayou is a fantastic Friday/Weekend hangout. Lots of locals and regulars with a “coastal” and “sports bar” vibe.
The fried shrimp was fried perfectly with a solid cornmeal style batter & coating, a very hush puppy style fry. Crunchy and well seasoned. The onion rings are more of a flour coating. I prefer my onion rings crunchy but these were still tasty.
Shrimp tacos were exemplary. Very well seasoned with a nice bite of spicy. The sweet potato fries were crispy and served hot and the rice was well seasoned, cooked and honestly “to die for”.
Vibes were nice and the wait staff was attentive , friendly , and on top of their game. We had 3 total alcoholic drinks which pushed our total spend a bit higher.

Went here with family a few days before Christmas 2025 and was very impressed with the fresh seafood. My New Orleans Salmon was so flavorful, the best I’ve ever had!

Rolling down I-45 toward Galveston, I pulled off for a quick pit stop at Bayou Bistro–and let me tell you, this is more than just a roadside bite. If you’re island-bound, this place deserves a spot on your itinerary.
I went straight for the special of the day: grilled Mahi-Mahi. The plate came with a side of grilled vegetables that were spot-on–tender, well-seasoned, and carrying just the right amount of char for that smoky depth. The seasoned rice was a pleasant surprise–rich, savory, and with a creamy, risotto-like texture that made it feel far more upscale than a highway exit would suggest. The star of the plate, the fish, was cooked exactly how you’d want it: flaky, moist, and evenly done from edge to center.
Of course, I couldn’t resist snagging a bite of my son’s meatball sub. Big, juicy meatballs, a tangy marinara, and bread with enough structure to hold it all without falling apart–it was a winner.
Dessert wasn’t in the cards this time, but the Pineapple Tres Leches is already on my must-try list for my next trip through. If it’s anywhere near as good as the rest of the meal, I’ll be leaving Bayou Bistro with both a full stomach and zero regrets.

We stopped here today on the way to Galveston, pretty much by accident(we had mapped to a different place) and we were so pleasantly surprised by this little gem! We had the boudain eggroll appetizer, I had the islander pizza (ham and pineapple) and my husband had the meat lovers! The food was fantastic, cute little place with good service! We will be back!

My son and I were out touring around the area on our way to Galveston and came across this Bayou Bistro.
What a great little place.
I ordered the shrimp PoBoy and my son the meatball sub. Both were very good, and the French fries were perfectly crispy.
The atmosphere of the place was great. I really recommend making your way there if you can, it’ll be worth the trip.

We met a friend to go fishing last weekend and after a successful day of catching lots of fish the friend recommended me go eat at Bayou Bistro The food is just incredible. My wife and I split the tomatoes caprese. There was more than enough for two I had the tuna sashimi my wife had the bacon-wrapped shrimp. Our friend had the pineapple shrimp. We are in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and one little hat spaghetti with meat sauce and the other had a pizza. Again all the food was just amazing the chef even came out to check on us and we complimented his food about the only complaint I have about the place is the portions we’re so huge I had no room for dessert. Maybe next time. And I assure you there will be a next time

I had the Thai almond chicken with veggies, no pasta, no added salt. Would do again.

I’m kinda biased to this place but, because it’s my local go to place I want you to know it too. The ingredients are fresh, they had tuna that was seared perfect. The gumbo had great flavor. By the way, nobody makes gumbo the same way, your mom doesnt work there so stop comparing it to that. The desserts are made in house. Last one i had was the coconut pie. Holy hell. I cant tell you how good it is. It was delicious, it made me mad and happy, and that’s what good food does, it stirs emotion. It made me mad because, how could this be that good? Happy because i got to try it and enjoy it. Once upon a time in Mexico has a scene that replays in my mind. The wait staff are great, I was impressed when our server served us our first slice of pizza. I didn’t realize it but that small gesture was thoughtful. Get the pizza, I recommend the naked pizza no tomatoes, add pepperoni, olives, and feta. I like the garlic butter on that one as opposed to tomato sauce. That’s mine feel free to use it, I’m getting it with bacon next time.

People were super friendly and provided great service. Plenty of indoor seating and some outdoors sitting. I honestly didn’t expect much for food and was just trying to find a place out of the Galveston main area but this place was not bad at all. Wings I would pass on but everything else was pretty good. Plenty of parking around. Nice drink selection and prices are reasonable.

This place is small an intimate. Like the motto there says “Where friends meet.” I loved it. Everything is made from scratch. And the service was amazing and our waitress was very friendly, her name was Tommie. I want to try the pizza, which I hear is very good. But I had the chicken Parmesan and it was really good. It blows Olive Garden’s of the water. I’m not a fan of Olive Garden. This is my new place for Pasta and Pizza..
