Reviews
The menu had a wide variety of vegetarian options, each one thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was rich in flavour, well-balanced in spice, and made with clear attention to detail. The paneer dishes were a particular highlight—soft, fresh, and perfectly cooked in aromatic gravies. The dals were comforting and hearty, and the breads were hot and fresh from the tandoor, with just the right amount of crisp and softness.
The ambiance added to the overall experience. The restaurant was clean and tastefully decorated, with a calm, relaxed atmosphere that made it easy to enjoy the meal. Despite being busy, the staff remained attentive and the food arrived in good time.
What set Bayleaf India apart was the consistency—every element, from food to service, felt intentional and cared for. It’s clear the team takes pride in delivering an experience that goes beyond just the meal. We left feeling satisfied and appreciated, which is rare to say these days.
This is not just a place to eat—it’s a place to enjoy good hospitality and authentic Indian food done right. For anyone looking for quality vegetarian food in Somerset, Bayleaf India is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be returning.
The dish had excessive Oil/ ghee
There was little to no flavour you would expect from a Pathia
This dish should be hot/ sour/ sweet/ under tones of Tamarind.
Definitely lacking in layers of flavour
The chicken overcooked and obviously precooked and reheated, tough and stringy having NO flavour and disappointing …
Gravy/ masala had some texture from the coarsely chopped onions, again flavourless….
Naan bread was disappointing, very little Keema meat but cooked okay with no dough uncooked
Service is okay limited understanding and the hygiene is to be questioned, make your own judgement….
I’m sorry but I’m afraid I’m not going to be returning
Both dishes had plenty of superbly cooked pieces of chunky chicken in a very flavourful & fragrant sauces. The fried rice was great & the naan also with a lovely coconut & almond taste, everything cooked fresh to go.
Great value for money as we got plenty of leftovers so definitely recommend
As we walked out, he said in Bengali ‘that guy come in with a white girl asking if it’s halal’ and laughed. My husband is Bengali so understood what he said, so we asked this man why did he say that and he then lied and said he didn’t. After that he said no white person asks for halal and apologised.
I would not recommend eating here, this made me feel discriminated against as a white person and a Muslim. I went to mirchi instead, much nicer people.
We got take away and the staff where extremely knowledgeable about dietary preferences and where willing to answer our questions.
The food was hot and very tasty. The portion size was just right. We particularly liked the samosas which where we’ll spiced and the vegan korma.
The food is always fantastic and full of flavour and the portion sizes are big. The owners are lovely too.
