Me and my sisters were traveling through Salina ks and decided to get breakfast. My sister googled a place and we decided to eat at Bayard’s Cafe. This place i highly recommend. It was definitely busy but still had alot of calm people. It was not rowdy or loud. The waitress was definitely busy but the hostess was very friendly. We finally got to order and it was a little bit of wait but a busy place with amazing food. It has been a long time to find a place with good breakfast and this place hit the spot. Everything was fresh and the portions were huge. We’ll worth the price and wait.

I was actually looking for a steak breakfast but ended up with pork chops and I can tell you instead of just getting one or two I got six large pork chops. Oh my gosh, I was shocked when the waitress put the plate in front of me no hashbrowns thank you I said, and the waitress said to me if you would’ve got hashbrowns if there would’ve been a second plate oh my goshand you know the price was only $13 and change it was delicious. The waitress was very attentive. She came by more than twice to make sure that I was OK. She was nice friendly. What a great place. I was just driving through and wanted a breakfast and if I ever drive back to Salina, Kansas I will definitely be coming back to eat here

A made from scratch cafe. A relic of a bygone era. The excellent comfort food hang out. This place is exactly what it needs to be. You can tell exactly how good this place is by the wait. Generous portions of made from scratch food. Everything from the breakfast food, to the burgers, meatloaf, and even the legendary Sunday Turkey and Dressing is comfort food that feels like a warm hug. The wait staff bustle around to help as many as they can. Enough said. Super solid food. 10/10.

My daughter and I went there for breakfast this morning. She ordered a cinnamon roll. I ordered biscuits and gravy. After six or eight minutes her cinnamon roll came out and I sit and watched her eat the entire thing. After about 15 minutes, I had still not received my order. I don’t think it’s appropriate for two people to come in one received their order while the other has to watch them eat. After she was finished, I had not received my order she should not have to sit there and watch me eat. She ordered a glass of tea to go with the cinnamon roll and a very small glass of tea was two dollars. I think that’s a little ridiculous.

What do you want from a diner? Good food or great atmosphere? As for me…it’s the food. And I wasn’t disappointed with the wonderful corned beef hash. Blew my calories for the day, but it was worth it.
Notables: corned beef has was great, like I remember as a kid-and that’s saying a lot.
I picked English muffin and thought a muffin was a muffin, but this crunchy crusted top reminded me of golden has browns….which btw were crispy and golden.
Go for the food. It’s traditional plan diner atmosphere but why not. Go for great food.

Got a to go order while heading back to Kansas City and everything was AMAZING! I was warmed welcoming when walking in to pay for the order and the server checking me out was so kind and friendly. I got the cheeseburger steak with mash potatoes and scalloped potatoes. It was some of the best scalloped potatoes I’ve ever had. My husband got the country fried steak and biscuits and gravy. He loved all of it. He makes great homemade biscuits and gravy but said these were better than his. Great prices and portions are big! Can’t wait to come back here next time we are visiting friends near Salina.

The service was pretty good considering how busy they were. The coffee was so so, not very flavorful. The so called Belgian waffle was not only very small but too thick so not completely cooked in the middle. The rest of the breakfast was very good, and nice sized portions.

Overall a good first visit. They were quite busy but we were seated quickly. The service was mildly friendly but fast. We got our food in less than 10 minutes. My biscuits and gravy was good, nothing great. Nothing really fancy, just a classic breakfast diner with good food.
