I’ve been to Bawarchi in Indianapolis a few times now and have tried a good mix of their dishes. The place has plenty of seating and the service has always been fast.

The Vijayawada Chicken 65 Biryani was really good. It has great flavor, though the chicken quantity felt a bit less compared to the rice.

Their salt & sweet lime soda was also nice and refreshing.

On another visit, we tried both the veg and non-veg thalis. They were decent, not amazing, but good enough. The portions were huge. Honestly, they could reduce the biryani rice in the thalis and just offer refills to avoid food waste.

My absolute favorite here is the juicy chicken mandi. I’ve tried mandi at a few places in the US, and this is one of the best I’ve had. The chicken is flavorful, the portion is great, and the rice is super aromatic. It comes with yogurt sauce, curry sauce, mayo, and veggies. It’s only available on weekends, but it’s definitely worth it.

Overall, solid service and some standout dishes. I’d definitely come back for the Mandi.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bawarchi Indian Restaurant in Indianapolis offers delicious, flavorful food with a strong South Indian focus, while still providing a good variety of North Indian options as well. The spices and taste feel authentic and well balanced. The ambience is pleasant and welcoming, making it great for both family dining and casual outings. Service is courteous and efficient, and the food is served quickly without compromising quality. Overall, a great place for authentic Indian cuisine in Indy.

There is a bar available with plenty of wine and spirit options, cocktails, domestic beers, Indian beers, and a wide variety of Whiskey options.

Prices are on the higher side but worth the money for flavor eateries.

I’ve had both takeout and dine-in from this restaurant and overall I recommend just doing takeout here. The food is definitely tasty, and you can tell that they utilize authentic recipes. I’ve tried a few dishes and they were all great. However, the service during dine-in is very slow and not super friendly. Their air conditioning was also broken last time we visited, which made for a very hot summer dining experience. Overall I recommend eating here, just make sure you do takeout.

We were 4 adults who visited the sunday lunch buffet. The area was open with plenty of space to move around. The appetizers included gupchup, chana chat, upma, idly , tangdi kebab, schezwan chicken. Taste was very good.

Same goes for main course. The biriyanis are a must try. They prepared different type of rice apart from biriyani which all were tasty. They have a live dosa counter.

One area where it seriously lags is dessert section. It had only halwa and the pot was empty. we had to wait long but it didnt come. Also the sitting area didnt have ac on.

So far good experience and would recommend this to friends.

Ordered chicken biryani and half tandoori chicken.
Biryani was just rice mixed with turmeric and tawa fried with 3 tiny chicken pieces. I could smell the turmeric in biryani. It had huge onion bell pepper pieces probably cut for tandoori chicken. Check pics attached.

My 2nd item was Tandoori chicken . It was added red color and super dry.
Tried reheating but kind of stale food. Had to throw away.

Such disappointment on online orders. Buffet has been good but will never order online or do a takeout.

Amazing food. I’ve gone a couple times and made a point to get something different every time and everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious!! The menu is so vast there’s no doubt you’ll find something you enjoy. Portion sizes are very generous, I’d say 3 people can eat off of on entree and be full. Very swanky atmosphere as well.

The service here was incredibly accommodating and made our visit truly enjoyable. My absolute favorites were the Karivepaku Chicken and the Vijayawada Biryani. I love the Karivepaku Chicken because of its marination — it’s a bomb of perfectly blended spices and so flavorful.

While most of their biryanis are a bit on the drier side, the Vijayawada stands out — the chicken is super moist, a bit spicier (just how I like it!), and it’s served with dahi and salan in case you want to balance the spice or dryness.

One thing that really made us feel at home was the hospitality — when we were packing a to-go box, most of our rice was already eaten. We asked if they could give us a little extra rice so we could enjoy one more serving, and they happily provided it free of charge. That small gesture really left a lasting impression. Highly recommend this place!

This buffet was incredible. The food was delicious, wide variety, and great spice level. What made this place special was the staff, the people. They were kind and caring. Will always come back!

I came here for dinner and I was blown away. The dinner included dosa, the most impressive spread Ive seen at a buffet outside Indian. Chai, chicken 65, and so much more just on the buffet. Dont sleep on this place.

I am amazed by the variety of food they offered in their lunch buffet. I never had these many types of biryani in one meal. Everything was exceptional (ambience, food, and staff). Their desert was great. I will definitely visit this place again in my next visit to Indianapolis.

Tried the Achari Chicken Tikka Kebab, Malai Chicken Tikka Kebab, Mutton Mughlai and Faluda. All the items tasted really good. The gravy of the mutton was very perfect. The falooda was good too.
