Back as last time we saw the delicious aged beef’s and it looked delicious! And it tasted amazing with the smoke mesquite flavor. We had ordered the ribeye and price was according to how heavy the beef was. We also ordered the zoodles pasta ( that was so so) and the Basta rustic gem (delicious!).
Last time we had dinner with friends and did family style where we got to try the various dishes. We had the appetizer which had the calamari and fish (delicious), cavatelli pasta (tasty), sausage pizza, and the whole
Chicken (flavorful). For dessert, we tried the caramel pudding (a bit sweet) and the the bread pudding (à la mode. Delicious)
Ambiance is more on the dimmed light romantic mood. They have an open kitchen where you can see them cooking though the windows. They have both outdoor seating (with heat lamps) and indoor and bar seating.
Perfectly baked, golden crust, stuffed with fresh ingredients, and full of flavor.
Then we had to try dessert… and it did not disappoint.
The cappuccinos were spot on — rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced — and the tiramisu was outstanding.
Light, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness to finish the meal.
Warm, welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and consistently great food from start to finish.
If you’re in Thousand Oaks and craving authentic Italian comfort food, this place is a must.
Five stars all the way — we’ll definitely be back. ✨
Clearly we weren’t paying attention lol
After a really wild weekend, Halloween festivities, we came here on a Monday night for a quiet dinner at the bar and what a surprise… the most amazing steak and seafood another great restaurant in our hood we will definitely be back BTW Lily the Bartender ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We got especial appetizers three slides was really light and testy and had a pasta with vodka sauce, different and delicious. Tiramisu was good too.
The price was really fair too.
The only thing, no reservations and you need to wait for almost half an hour.
If you get Robert as your server, consider yourself lucky—he’s attentive, warm, and genuinely enhances the experience—but every member of the staff I’ve encountered has been excellent. The combination of outstanding service and delicious food makes Basta a standout choice for both date nights and casual dinners. Yum!
Date/time of visit: Saturday night, ~6:00 PM
Parking: Street parking, free. they offer valet too but there’s plenty of parking. Not sure how much valet was. There’s parking across the street for Tarantula Brewery; pretty sure you can park there and no one would know.
Party size: 5
Environment/ambience: busy; there’s no reservations so you have to come in person. This Basta just recently opened (there’s another one in Agoura Hills) so assume it’s a little easier to get in here. 5 min wait but we came early.. around 5:45 – 6:00 PM. The Agoura location is usually an hour+ wait. It was ok at the start but got really stuffy and hot at the end. Restrooms are clean. Pretty busy overall. Small bar area with the NBA playoffs on. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Service: was great. He provided the specials, etc and recommended what we should order. Came around pretty often and refilled water (water was sooo good for some reason ). No complementary dessert for 50th birthday!
Food: had the complimentary bread + vinegar and balsamic, Tagliatelle al Ragu, Fiorentine, Burrata + Beets, El Volti wine, Gnocchi, Salsiccia e Funghi Pizza, and the desserts, Lava Cake and Butter cake. Everything was good.
Cost: $450 with tip
Would I go back (yes/no): 70/30
