I do not think this place could have been any better! The atmosphere was amazing along with the food. It was some of the best italian food my fiance and I had ate. Service was great and the vibe of the place was lively, classy, and welcoming. We got the crispy meatballs which ended up being our favorite dish of the night. We had a margarita pizza to share which was crispy with a sweet sauce and beautifully executed. I ordered beef cheek with gnocchi and it was so hearty and delicious. The beef melted in your mouth and there were fried garlic chips in it that made it extra flavorful. My fiance had the cacio e pepe, which was delicious. For dessert, we had the tiramisu and pistachio gelato which were so yummy.

Had a good time at Basso! They had solid food, but we were most impressed by the dark & moody atmosphere. Our group started with the burrata, bread & oil and crispy meatball appetizers. All were super delicious and would highly recommend! Some of our entrees included the ricotta gnocchi, cacio e pepe and the pappardelle. We felt our entrees were just okay when compared to the stellar appetizers. The entrees may look like smaller size portions, but they were hearty. The basso spritz & astro van cocktails were great. Service was a little spotty, but it was a busy night. Overall, we would go back to Basso for a happy hour as we thought the cocktails and appetizers were the main highlights of the night. Wish google would offer a half star option, because Basso is a 4.5 for us!

Last night was my first time at Basso and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was incredible, and an all around memorable experience. Every dish was full of flavor and clearly made with care.
A huge shoutout to our waiter, Amira, who truly made the night special. She was so nice and attentive, and made us feel so well taken care of from start to finish. Service like hers takes a great restaurant and makes it exceptional.
Can’t wait to come back!

This is a cozy and beautiful place that feels like a taverna.
We enjoyed coming here on a chilly night as the dark and underground space filled with fire ovens makes it a perfect ambiance.
As starter, we ordered the calamari which came with a full punch of except flavours enhanced by the tomato sauce and peppers.
The ribs ragu fettuccine had well constructed laywers of flavours and was excellent.
The “deconstructed lasagna” was not well seasoned and a bit disappointing. It was still good, but boring (I think they name this Mafalda).
We saw many other tables ordering pizza and we are curious to try that next time.

Don’t miss out on Basso, one of my new favorites in STL. Super cool place with a great menu selection.
As for food…the crispy meatballs are to die for. I don’t know how they make them but OMG.
We also got the chicken pizza and pappardelle pasta. Both were fabulous. The pasta had a sweetness to it that I wasn’t expecting but was so great. Pizza crust also had a sweetness to it that melted in your mouth.
We didn’t have any dessert but I can’t wait to go back for some. Such a great experience!

From the moment we sat down, the vibe at Basso felt warm, intimate, and effortlessly cool! Exactly what you want for a great night out. The atmosphere downstairs is cozy and stylish without feeling pretentious, and it immediately sets the tone for a relaxed, enjoyable experience.
The food was excellent across the board , thoughtfully prepared, rich in flavor, and clearly made with care. Every bite felt intentional, and it’s the kind of meal that makes you slow down and actually enjoy what’s in front of you.
Huge shout-out to Madi, who took such amazing care of myself and my friends. She was friendly, attentive without hovering, and made the whole experience feel personal and welcoming. You can tell she genuinely cares about guests having a great time, which really elevated the entire night.
Between the food, the atmosphere, and the top-notch service, Basso absolutely lived up to the hype. Can’t wait to come back, highly recommend

The food was fantastic! We tried the Crispy Meatballs, Truffle Fries, Pepperoni & Hot Honey Pizza, and the Ravioli pasta dish—all delicious. Pro tip: join the waitlist online to cut down your wait time, but plan to arrive early enough to enjoy a drink at the bar with their great selection.

Basso at the Cheshire is such a great spot. The atmosphere is stylish and cozy, perfect for a nice night out without feeling too formal. The food was excellent — everything was flavorful and clearly made with care.
Our server, Zoe, really made the experience stand out. She was friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations. Service was smooth, welcoming, and professional from start to finish.
Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to.
