Basmati is a great Indian restaurant in the wonderful area of Bilbao, close to Chamberi, in between the San Bernardo and Quevedo metro stations. It serves authentic and sumptuous Indian dishes! We ordered the chicken curry and the butter beef. It provides a cozy ambience and atmosphere. The restaurant was very clean. The server, Jaber, was very warm, accommodating, effic, and friendly. Worth visiting anothet time.

I stumbled upon this hidden gem while exploring the area, and what an incredible find it turned out to be! Although they were fully booked when I first arrived without a reservation, the staff kindly suggested I come back in an hour. I made an online booking right away and continued my walk.
When I returned, they immediately recognized me and welcomed us warmly, even before checking the reservation. The two gentlemen at the front were exceptionally friendly, and their genuine passion for great service was evident throughout.
We ordered Rice, Naan, Dhal Tarka, Chicken Rezala, and Pakoda – every dish was bursting with authentic flavor and perfectly prepared. Honestly, it was the best Indian food I’ve had in Spain. The meal ended beautifully with a customized cup of Indian Chai made to my liking and some delicious coconut ice cream for dessert.
If I had to mention one thing, it’s that the rice portions could be a little bigger — but everything else was absolutely perfect.
A must-visit spot for anyone craving genuine Indian flavors and warm, heartfelt service!

Very friendly staff and excellent food quality and good quantity. They are very busy on the weekends so you need to make a reservation. Had Chicken Saag and Chicken Jalfriezi. Both were great. The naan is cooked fresh on a tandoor. Jalfriezi is on the spicy side by default and they can adjust if you ask. Highly recommended.

Came to this restaurant on a late Saturday afternoon for lunch, but the place was packed with customers. We were politely told we would have to come back later since we did not have reservations. They said there should be a table available in about an hour. We returned an hour later and were seated.
The restaurant was clean. The gentleman who took our order was very pleasant and friendly. I had chicken saag with plain rice. It was excellent and very flavorful and was made with chicken breast which was tender enough that it could be separated into smaller pieces with just a fork. If I had one suggestion to make, it would be to use dark meat, but that is just my personal preference since dark meat is tender and juicy. They will adjust the spiciness of the food according to your preference.The flavors in the chicken saag were well balanced.
My husband had the chicken jalfrezi accompanied by plain naan. He said it was very good.
Our dining experience at this establishment was a pleasurable one. Thank you!
