I was recommended by my Uber driver Mark and I wound up somewhere else. I then decided to leave once I looked into Basalt and I’m so happy that I did!

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with opens arms and a smile by Merlie, and then had Sharon as my waitress. She is so loving and so kind, and as I opened my eyes, after praying over my food, my table was filled with the remainder of my order that I had placed and her in the background with such a beautiful, delighted smile. Her presence was welcoming, and it made my experience here even more fulfilling.

I then met the chef, and he was wonderful as well. Great chef. Quality of food is beyond. Yes, all of this food was for me!

Once Sharon left, I wound up staying to work on a few things and met Ronald. He took very good care of me as well— very kind and welcoming Soul. I feel very grateful.

I spent most of my time here in Manoa and heard a lot about Waikiki. Coming from New York City, I feel very grateful that I listened to myself and decided to explore Waikiki. I truly had an incredible time here and so happy Basalt is a highlight of my trip.

The Panna Cotta was probably my favorite. Everything was delicious and yet, the Panna Cotta, I will order EVERY SINGLE TIME!

Enjoy!!

We made a 12:45 lunch reservation but finding the location and parking garage presented a delay. Merv from the hostess stand called to confirm and inform the kitchen of our delay. We finally made it 5 minutes before the kitchen closes. Everyone was soooo kind and welcoming. Katie our waitstaff made a few recommendations and we ordered the Garlic Chicken Sandwich and its famous Charcoal Pancake! Everything was delish! BUT the best part was the people that worked there.. Lehua stopped by and chatted with us. On their way out, the chef stopped and thanked us for coming. What a joyful experience overall! Best part! Validated parking @ Hyatt Centric Hotel! A really must try. We’re going back to try more but definitely will come earlier (smile). Mahalo Basalt and staff!

The charcoal pancakes are an absolute must try – soft & fluffy, delicious, and visually appealing! The loco moco portion here is a bit smaller compared to other restaurants (but sized right for a moderate appetite), but it was packed with more flavor, very delish. Nice service. Would return to try other items on the menu.

If driving, you can park at the Hyatt Hotel 6th floor and Basalt can validate it for 3 hrs. We ended up shopping around the area a bit longer so we had to pay for an extra 1.5-2 hrs of parking, which ended up being like $12.

An instant Waikiki staple. Great atmosphere to enjoy fantastic food from chef Lance Kosaka. Light music that doesn’t disturb conversation. They have a wide variety of drinks, but I suggest the mocktail “Spa Day” and spike it with Hendrick’s Gin. Nat will take good care of ya.

Lance’s spin on a classic Loco Moco will hit every savory gland you have! Sharing this dish and the Charcoal pancakes are a perfect combination to satisfy your sweet needs. ☯️

Long review, but could be helpful!

So place is inside of a nice clean market, doesn’t look as appealing from the outside because of location (inside of a market).

We sat down and we were greated by server who was really nice to us (two kids and two adults). They also provided a high chair for infant.

Honestly, didn’t expect much because of location, but food was a WOW, 10/10. We ordered a rib eye steak w/mashed potatoes, chicken w/mashed potatoes, and a grilled cheese sandwich (kid). Everything was so tasty, portions were generous too.

Priced fair because of service, taste, and quality of service.

Would recomment!!!

Food okay. Not outstanding just okay. Service naturally okay with an automatic 18% added option to the bill you can see why. They were limiting diners to those that were buying wine upon our visit due to staff shortages. Prices expensive as is everywhere but noodle restaurants in Honolulu. Wouldn’t return to restaurant or indeed Honolulu ever again as prices everywhere for food and service are 100% higher than Australia and 200% higher than Europe.

Had Prime Rib, cooked and seasoned perfectly. Their fries are great too. Wasn’t crowded, mid week dinner.
POG Mousse for dessert was really a topper for the gustatory evening . An amazing dessert experience! Highly recommended . Only ever knew of chocolate mousse before. Who knew there are deserts like this out there??!!

Okay, so I guess this is a cool restaurant somewhat hidden inside a “food court” (which in some way serves “okay” food, attached to a supermarket). The food here, while is “upscale” for its display, is actually good, and for such location, the price is actually okay. Even better, rice and vegetable are INCLUDED in many of the dishes, which

PS: While I do agree that food is “expensive”, I do have to to say it’s literally in Waikiki, so everything is “expensive” when compared to other places (double or even triple, see my other

I haven’t written a review in so long, but OMFG my dinner was delicious. I had the salmon ochazuke and it was the best thing I’ve eaten in a restaurant in as long as I can remember. My husband had the ribs with guava BBQ sauce and they were delicious too, but I’ll be dreaming of the ochazuke until I can return one day.

Do not sleep on Basalt. We came for brunch and were pleasantly surprised. All of the food was amazing but you have to try the charcoal pancakes. They were unlike anything we’ve ever had before. Fluffy, moist, and absolutely delicious.
