My mother in law was wanting Italian for dinner. There were a few options by us that was close to the U of U hospital. I had spent the whole day at the hospital and was starving. I could have eaten my weight in meatballs by the time they released me. I did creep out the menu and didn’t see meatballs as an option. I have been to other Italian joints that didn’t list meatballs on their menu so I was hoping that this was the case.

This joint is 10 minutes from the hospital in Sugar House which was nice. It was an easy drive to the venue. We made our way in and was instantly greeted. We got sat away from the door which was nice. It was cold and pouring rain so sitting next to the front door didn’t sound fun. We looked over the menu after our server dropped off with our water. Everything on the menu looked delicious! I didn’t see meatballs as an option so I wanted to ask my server if it was even an option.

My mother in law ordered the rigatini bolognese. I got the salmon without the parmesan risotto subbed for extra veggies. I wanted some meatballs on the side but it wasn’t an option. So, I was hoping that my meal was going to be enough food for me.

My plate came out looking amazing! My salmon looked perfectly seared. My broccoli rabe and asparagus had beautiful char marks on it. It came with a bright, charred lemon on the side. I added the fresh lemon on my food and a little salt to taste. I was ready to dig in!

The brocolli rabe and asparagus were cooked perfectly! They were both charry with a nice bite to it. I took a few bites of my salmon and it was fresh. After a couple bites, I did notice that it was not cooked all the way. With my new kidney, I have to be cautious with undercooked food. I also don’t care for rare meat or fish so I would have asked for it to be recooked anyways.

I didn’t want to waste the veggies so I offered just to take the veggies off my plate and they could just reheat the salmon. They were so kind about it. My server gave me my original side of veggies off my plate. They were preparing a whole new plate of salmon and veggies for me. So while my new plate was being prepared, I polished off the vegetables.

My second plate that came out was lovely. The fish was seared nicely again with another helping of vegetables. Again, I topped my food off with the juice from the charred lemon and some salt. I did notice that this second piece of salmon was a bit smaller than my original plate. It was good piece of seared salmon but there wasn’t any real seasoning to it besides the lemon juice and salt I added.

Overall, dinner was great and the service was nice. I appreciate that the chefs for remaking my plate. The venue is pretty and romantic. My mother in law and I had a great dinner here. The only thing that I would have liked was a little more flavor on my salmon. Other than that, it was a delicious meal that I needed after my long hospital stay.

We went here for Saturday brunch and there wasn’t a wait at all! Super cute atmosphere and fun menu choices, and the french toast was phenomenal. Only negative for us – the sausage patty on the breakfast sandwich was essentially an enormous Italian meatball in a not-super-positive way. Dinner menu looks lovely too and we’ll be excited to try it one day soon!

Great Experience. Our server Dixter is the best he gave us good recommendations and he’s tight! Food is really great. The porkchop marsala is my favorite and their blueberry pancakes is the best in town its a must try. Highly recommended

Looove Bartolos. Their pasta is a can’t miss, but I also frequent here for brunch plates. Bucatini today. Chai latte was the right amount of sweet, with some depth.

Great setting and ambience for a place that can accommodate large groups.
Good selection of specialty cocktails.
“Spicy” options are Utah spicy.
Thought the pasta was slightly overcooked.
Great desserts in a cup! Both cheesecake and tira misu.
Would definitely repeat.

We recently dined at this incredible Italian restaurant in Salt Lake City, and it was a true delight from start to finish. The flavors were rich, vibrant, and unmistakably authentic—every bite transported us straight to Italy. From the perfectly al dente spaghetti to the savory sauces and fresh ingredients, it’s clear the kitchen takes pride in traditional recipes and quality preparation. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, ideal for a relaxed evening out. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall warmth of the experience. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touches and genuine hospitality. If you’re craving real Italian cuisine that’s both delicious and soul-satisfying, this spot is a must-visit. We loved it and can’t wait to return!

Bartolo’s is a great spot with a very comfortable, easygoing atmosphere that makes conversation effortless. It’s the kind of place where you can relax and actually enjoy the experience without feeling rushed or crowded.

Our server was friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful, offering excellent recommendations that paid off. The crab frittata was outstanding—rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked—and even the coffee stood out as excellent, which is always appreciated.

Between the welcoming service, relaxed atmosphere, and quality food, Bartolo’s is a place I would happily return to and recommend to others.

My childhood friend and I had a proper dining experience; choosing to dine outside, as if we were a latent male couple enjoying one another’s company for the first time. Corkage here is $25. This is one of the few places I’ve found that serves picahña. Absolutely loved the experience; even the noise from the strugglimg Kabuto across the way added to the overall ambiance

Bartolos is my favorite restaurant. I can’t say enough, I drive the 45 minutes as often as I can for their to die for calamari, the most perfect focaccia bread, and the steak with the Parmesan potato’s is my go to. Such a local gem, and the very best service every time.

I’d give it 3.5 The drinks were good, I liked the flavor of the appetizers but the amount of calamari was underwhelming and it’s very pricey. The spaghetti, dish was the best one for sure. Service was very nice and answered all my questions
If I wiggle a bit on price I’d give it 4
The mussels and clams were amazing. They had a great butter sauce and with the bread!
