The cutest bar and seating decor. So much character and great vibe. Service was excellent and sever we had was knowledgable, accomodating. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Cocktails were not impressive but food was amazing. Chicharron and anchovie is must have if you like those dishes. Price is high for the app portion but so good. Quality here, not quantity. Mandatory garlic shrimp egg app was huge and good for sharing; yummy and well priced. The mushroom or dishes for vegeterians, not so exciting. Ended with a good flan dish.

As a fan of Ernestos, I finally got to experience Bartolo and it exceeded my expectations. The space itself was incredibly stylish and the food was fantastic.

A few standouts for me were the Anchoa Y Matequilla, Champinones Al Ajillo, Huevos Fritos Con Patatas Y Gambas, Callos A La Madrilena, and Chuleta De Buey, amongst others.

Don’t sleep on the cocktails here. I would put their martini up with some of my other favorites in the city. I was also a big fan of the Espresso De Brandt which is an Espresso Martini with Pastis and Cacao. Top level!

Really awesome staff, service, and vibes. Can’t wait to return.

The ajo blanco is one of the best dishes I’ve eaten in New York City. It’s a perfect balance of texture, cream, salt, and sweet.

The anchovies with butter, the chicharron with almonds, and the braised oxtail with potatoes were spectacular. I prefer the tortilla at Ernesto’s, but Bartolo’s thin and runny version was very well done.

The torcino dessert with plums, almond cookies, and a rich crumble was pure heaven.

Our server was great. And the decor is stunning. Every detail—the paneled walls, the rose colored seating, and the matador prints—make you feel like you’re living a Hemingway novel.

Go here. It’s really good.

Solid food in a welcoming space open to the street and yet slightly isolated from it. The menu focuses on reproducing Spanish food, and does it well, but frankly nothing blew my mind. I had high expectations for the grilled iberico, but it was quite plain and salty, I didn’t get any of the complex flavors that this type of pork is known for. The cheesecake with blue cheese was great for a bite, but despite being made really well, the blue cheese was just too intense and could have benefited from a cup of coffee or glass of wine to cut it.

We enjoyed every dish. The anchovies and butter, Huevos Fritos con patatas y gambas (really big portion!!) and the shrimp rice, all amazingly delicious. The suckling lamb was okay but overall we love everything. Melon margarita was delicious too! Service was great! Would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu.

One of the best dining experiences I had lately in New York. First of all, the restaurant is beautifully designed. Staff is friendly. The food was amazing, from the croquetas de Jamon, to the gambas, the oxtail and tomatoes. The only downside was the dessert as we ordered the cheese cake (tarte basca). Although this is one of my favorite desserts (usually) this one was made with blue cheese so the flavor was really strong and I couldn’t eat it. Will try other desserts next time!

The most authentic Spanish food in the city. A beautiful representation of Madrid’s most traditional dishes. If you’re looking to experience Spain at the highest level, visit Bartolo.

Delicious! Cocktails were lovely and service was excellent. I would go for the vibes, but not the food. The sardine toast was the best of what we had ordered. The filleted crawfish we had was a tad temped and everything else was underwhelming as far as flavor.

Everything from the food to the drinks, staff and ambiance at Bartolo is pure class! Great date night spot and our waiter was very helpful in suggesting best dishes for a vegetarian & pescatarian. Don’t skip out on the dessert – one of the many highlights along with the mushrooms, margarita mocktail and our mains.
