Barry Bagels is a bagel & deli restaurant founded in Toledo in 1972. We boil & then bake 18 varieties of bagels fresh, in small batches all day long. Breakfast sandwiches with eggs (eggels), deli sandwiches for lunch or dinner, savory soups and salads made in house are our specialties.

I love the food but the customer service is very hit or miss. It takes so long to even be acknowledged for a online pickup order. The amount of people working not one person can ask if you have been helped or can keep up with the traffic flow on who has been waiting to be helped the longest. Also the attitudes from some of the workers aren’t the best. Would be a lot better of an experience if all of that was better.

Food has slowly been getting worse. The bacon is not crispy at all. The celery in the potato salad is very chewy and impossible to eat. I witnessed a veteran employee being rude to a young new employee for asking how long to cook something. Even the employees are being rude to each other. Responding to Barry Bagels: Shame on you Mark Greenblatt. That’s a great way for you to respond to negative comments. I only came in to your store because I had a gift card. I’ve been done with your business for awhile. Like I said before it’s been going down hill and I finally wanted to say something. I want to add The owner Mark Greenblatt is incredibly immature. Grow up.

The food was good and well made. My problem is how the staff was being utilized. There was 7 employees all focused on making food and giving orders out, but none at the register or to take orders I waited for 20mins to just get my order taken and they weren’t busy, but a line was created because no one was taking orders. I also waited another 15min at the register when the gentleman behind me orders more food and paid before me. I was there on a Tuesday around 10-11am. The staff wasn’t being utilized well at all I don’t think staffing was the issue because it looked like they were fully staffed. I think the issue was delegating job tasks as I wasn’t the only one that had to wait a long time. Worst of it was that it looked like the managers/owners were there doing the books/ having a meeting when I was there and didn’t notice this flaw. This was my first time, but I came with someone who said they were a regular and said it was common for this to happen. I would come back for the food, but not for the service.

I continue to order from here but I’m very disappointed in the service. I always order on the app in the hopes of saving time but as usual, again today, I waited until everybody who was in line had their orders filled before I could get my online order that was sitting on the counter getting cold. And yes, even sitting on your warmer it was cold! Yes, I was in the online order pick up area. When I mentioned it to the service personnel no apology, no nothing. So be prepared to wait for a long time for your online order. Using the app will not save you time. Your response to my review saying I didn’t hear that I was asked if I could be helped, if true, is on you! I was three feet away. Why didn’t the employee or anyone else standing around let me know my attention was being requested. That’s what’s normal. Twice employees walked away from me. This is my second visit with this occurring. I can understand once but twice is one time to many! Or are you going to say I didn’t hear someone ask me if I was helped on the first visit too. Actually, that visit I waved an employee down to give me my order after several minutes because it was on the “counter ” with my name on it and I saw it. What did you all think I was standing there for five minutes for…to watch everyone else be served? Shame on you for blaming and trying to shame me as the customer for your inadequate service standards.

This place has gone to the rats since Barry died. The food is still tasty but the hygiene is deplorable and the service is slow and less motivated. The new ownership needs to wake up and focus on clean operations.

This is my favorite in town but today it was lousy. If you can’t afford to put the poppy seed into the poppy seed bagel then stop making them. Either it was a bad batch or they are skimping on the ingredients. It’s now two times in a row the coffee is barley warm. They need to do better, otherwise I won’t be coming around to this location.

Nice fresh turkey. Toasted Asiago bagel. Pickle. Was all very good. Would give a 5 but the prices were extremely expensive. Two bagel sandwiches, two small bags of chips and one drink….$23. Seemed very high for basically a cold cut meal.

This was my first time coming to Barry Bagels and I have to say I really liked how much I was able to customize the bagel I was getting! The lady behind the counter helping us was very kind and helpful and the service all around was great. I’ll make sure to stop here next time I’m in town for breakfast or lunch!
