Barrios is one of my go to lunch spots. I hadnt been in a while because I was going all the time at one point. I thought I’d stop in today. I usually order the fish tacos but this time I ordered the chicken masa soup and Brussels sprouts with sweet potatoes. I didn’t want anything heavy. First, let’s talk about their homemade tortilla chips and homemade salsa. If that’s all I ate I would be extremely happy. Their chips and salsa are the best hands down! The chicken masa soup was better than I expected. It was like a kicked up chicken soup with all the veggies and all the flavor! The let down was the Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes. It’s presentation was beautiful but the taste was just… meh! So many things they could do for flavor but that dish just missed the mark. I was pleasantly surprised to see they added mocktails on the menu. I do love a good mocktail! I had their mule-something or other. I forget the name. It was a let down too. Beautiful presentation but it was syrupy sweet. If they dialed down a bit on the syrup and added more soda water, spritzer or ginger beer (yum) PLUS a couple of jalapeño rings, it would have been on point. My waitress was super sweet and friendly and she took great care of me. It was just after the lunch rush so it was a fairly empty and easy going atmosphere. My ONLY regret is that I did not order the grilled pineapple tres leches. You haven’t lived until you’ve had that slice of heaven wrapped in a dessert. Barrios is a place with good food and space for good friends plus its in the coveted Midtown.

Very difficult to find parking anywhere close so just be aware of that. I tried their lunch special for midtown lunch week and will have to come back to try something else. The black beans were absolutely fantastic. Regular and hot salsa were also very good. The Mexican corn was a bit bland. The fried chicken in the tacos was dry and not very warm when served and the cabbage appeared to have been cut days ago and left out. It was completely dried out. One taco had a jalapeño slice and the other did not so kind of inconsistent. The tortilla was decent though.

Our first time at Barrios Fine Mexican Dishes and it was excellent. We sat outside, which was very comfortable with the fans. Bridgette, our server, was friendly, attentive, and thoughtful about dietary needs. The food was fresh, well-prepared, and came out quickly even though they were busy. We’ll definitely be back to try more!

We came here for lunch and had a solid meal. I had the tamale lunch special which was outstanding. My daughter had the steak quesadilla and she said it was fantastic. Nice atmosphere and the service was top notch. I would absolutely recommend Barrios to friends and family.

Yawl! Do NOT sleep on this place. If I could stand outside with a sign to bring people in I would! When you first walk in you notice the smell of a good wood fire. Instant win for me. But then came the drinks, yum! We had the chicken fajita quesadilla and the birra empanadas. My boyfriend literally drank the consume, it was so good. Homemade tortillas. Y’all. It’s a must!

Barrios Fine Mexican Dishes – A Great Spot for Date Night

We had a really enjoyable date night at Barrios. As the evening went on, it did get a bit crowded and noisy, but that’s to be expected at a popular spot.

The food and drinks were fantastic across the board. Like many restaurants these days, they seemed a little short-staffed. Our server was friendly and worked hard, but she had too many tables to manage, which slowed things down a bit.

We started with cocktails—I had their unique take on an Old Fashioned, served smoked in a crystal skull. It was both visually impressive and delicious. My friend had a margarita and said it was great.

For dinner, we both went with tacos—I had the fish, and she had the beef. Both were flavorful and satisfying. We wrapped up the meal with the “No Sleep Till Jalisco” coffee cocktail, which was so good it could double as dessert.

Overall, a great experience with creative drinks, tasty food, and a lively atmosphere. Would definitely go back.

In a city where there is tons of great Hispanic food, the flavor profile here is next level. Absolutely worth the try and service is phenomenal

Great upscale Mexican place that yielded a very fun night with friends out on the patio. Salsa was great and chips were unique and very good and seemed freshly fried. The roasted chicken enchiladas were pretty good, nothing I haven’t had before. The service was very attentive and always made sure drinks were filled and apologized when they didn’t come over for a while if they noticed a drink was empty. The atmosphere on the outdoor patio was just really special! Felt like true al fresco dining like if I was as in a different country on vacation. A little pricey but I’d say the vibe and service justified that for a nice night out.

We walked in at 6pm on a Friday and didn’t have to wait. Parking was decent. They were busy but food was fresh and didn’t take too long. Staff and friendly.

Had dinner with my family at Barrios on Sunday to celebrate my son’s birthday. The food was delicious and plentiful. They had unique twists to some classic dishes and drinks and flavorful combinations. We were a large party so we tried quite a few of the menu items. The service staff was very friendly, accommodating and attentive. Found a new favorite and I will definitely return.
