Fun atmosphere. Clean. Friendly service. The food was so amazing!! Chips and salsa was great, and complimentary. The salsa was like a roasted tomato salsa. Very good and flavorful!! Tacos are a great option. My wife had two surf and turf and one alpastore – pork and pineapple. Very good. I had the Cochonia Pibil – shredded pork with Pico and pickled onions, so juicy and flavorful with a side of black beans which had to be the best black beans I have ever had in my life. I would highly, highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Phoenix/Scottsdale!!

My wife and I came in for lunch and everything we ordered was absolutely fantastic. I got the birria tacos and the street corn and my wife ordered the enchiladas. Every bite felt like someone in the kitchen knew exactly what they were doing. The birria was rich and flavorful, the tortillas had that perfect soft but structured feel. The street corn was the kind you keep eating long after you are full because you convince yourself there is always room for more corn. My wife loved her enchiladas so much she kept saying Just try one bite and I kept pretending I did not hear her because I was too committed to my tacos.
Now here’s a twist. Later that night I ended up with food poisoning. We also grabbed a smoothie afterward, so realistically, the odds are fifty fifty on who the culprit was. But I will say this. The birria tacos at Barrio Queen were so good that even as I was suffering through the longest night of my life, a small part of me thought Well that was almost worth it.
Now in the spirit of not fully knowing the culprit I am still awarding a rating as if I had not had the worst night of my life cradled next to the toilet.
Everything tasted amazing, the service was great, the atmosphere was fun, and I would absolutely recommend to a friend. Especially as a fun prank to see if he enjoyed it as much as I did and has the same kinda night I did.

First time to Barrio Queen and it will not be the last!! We were promptly seated in the bar area. Spoke with the delightful server about which drinks to get, and were both pleasently surprised by how simple yet powerful the cocktail selections were, bartender knocked those out of the park! After much deliberation we decided on 3 tacos each. Both ordered the Mar y Tierra (surf and turf) Taco, and 2 other selections. We both agreed that the surf and turf Taco is unique and perfectly balanced! We did not make any modifications to our taco orders. My other two tacos were; fried fish taco and the gringas (pork and pineapple), which I thought were out of this world!! Mind you we are from Tucson, AZ and consider ourselves pretty familiar with quality tacos and these are it!! We will definitely be returning to the Barrio Queen. Highly recommend!
Parking is interesting in old town Scottsdale, but the walk isn’t bad, and was free around the lunch hours.

I don’t know what the fuss is about. First, the food was cold and mediocre. We were seated quickly today about 4pm. Service was efficient enough especially the walk around lady asking about service. We had to ask for our check, no one returned at that point. But the service was very good otherwise. The food was just not that great, cold, cheese not melted at all, meat was dry and not tasty. I was with friends and certainly won’t return. Food was not good. I didn’t want to be impolite as a guest of my good friends, by complaining. They were disappointed too and I didn’t want to make it negative. But no, I’m not returning. I guess a cook on break or tired out between lunch and dinner. Just not worth it it. At all. Only nice people. Not good food in our visit.

Excellent and authentic Mexican cuisine. Absolutely loved this place! The tacos were packed with flavor, and the guacamole tasted incredibly fresh. Every bite had the perfect balance of spice and seasoning. Definitely one of the best Mexican meals I’ve had — I’ll be back!

Comida a today madre, indeed! Recommended by an Uber driver, we came here on our first visit to the Old Town Scottsdale area. Really fun merch at the checkout area. Huge bar! Our first waiter kind of forgot about us, but then we got Juan! Absolutely fabulous service. Super personable and efficient. Give him a raise!! Loved the chopped salad with shrimp. And the Skinny Cholla. That slanting glass makes you notice less when you’ve had a few! My husband chose The Queen (nothing new there) and loved it. It was not quite too hot to sit outside in the shade, so we had a lovely lunch in the patio. Fabulous!

Guacamole and cheese crisps were both great. Coffee was amazing black. Apparently some servers accidentally cleared out my table while I was in the restroom, but they gave me orders to go on the house.

Party of 13- no reservations but we were quickly accommodated! The waitress took everyone’s order and before we could finish the appetizer, the food was being delivered to the table! 13 different plates and not 1 complaint!!
This was literally a last minute lunch before heading to the airport. We gave the assignment and Barrio Queen completed the mission! Thank you for making this experience a great one-even with a couple little kids! We will make another trip out.
