What a gem! truly a special place that I was happy to stumble upon! We stopped and took notice because a woman brought a lawn chair and a book and set up an umbrella… all of which sparked our interest since we’re new to town. We notice the signs… best bread awards ️ which intrigued us more but it was ungodly hot out! But this wonderfully kind woman mentioned to us to grab the umbrellas the bakery puts out while the line forms; that it was worth the wait and it’d make it more bareable. We felt inspired and since we had time and were thereto stick around and boy we weren’t disappointed! The line formed about 25 deep and counting; it confirmed our good timing and the hype. When it was our turn we’re instructed to come in in a sort of pairs and low grouping since they don’t have much space inside, and to close the door to keep the air conditioning inside… PLEASE close the door quickly behind you; it’s a kindness for everyone involved. Next we were whisked away in our mind by the smell of all the fresh baked breads! We got the heritage and some special flour to take home. It was divine really a stellar loaf ! I will say, though I hate to be that guy a bit but that was no bagel … if it was marketed as a Rosemary Round I’d have applauded and said well done, it’s a nice sort of round bread. But it wasn’t hitting any sort of mark for any bagel I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen a lot whew! Even store bought it’s like that. Now, I’m not saying it’s bad! I’m just saying it’s misleading… I ordered it with tampered expectations knowing it’s not like east coast, and that’s fine! But it was like apples and oranges; yeah both fruits that’s about it. As a rosemary bread in a round shape it was tasty but that’d be my only sort of complaint. It’s worth the line, worth the wait. The staff was nice and you cant get fresher. I’d love to come back and try other breads they make and make a great sandwich! Definitely see why they win awards! Go! It’s worth the line! And be sure to bring or use their umbrella if it’s hot! What a nice courtesy. Thanks Barrio Bread!

So glad we stopped by on our last day in Tucson! We’ve been living off of various Barrio Bread creations for the last two days, including delicious focaccia, bagels, the famous heritage loaf, and even a cubano roll on the plane home (as instructed by Don!) Looking forward to making the Sonoran wheat berries we brought back too. Can’t wait to return!

They sell out by 11am-ish even on a weekday so be aware!
Always a line.
Nowhere to eat there – just pickup in a very small counter space inside. Thus the line outside.

I am a baker who continues to experiment to improve my bread, we came to Barrio Bread whole visiting Tucson. We took several loaves, they are all very tasty, great crust and the inside crumb is second to none. Simply amazing where you can tell the dedication and pursuit for excellence.

They take their bread seriously, line was wrapped around the building like it was Black Friday from the 90’s. After one bite dipped in fresh pesto, I understood.
I suggest to get there 30-45 mins early to lineup!

Saw some other reviews on Barrio Bread and gotta say they were correct. A smaller local bakery in Tucson making fresh real bread. There was a small line but it went fast. I got a loaf of heritage and another of the cranberry walnut. Both were excellent. Almost 4 lbs of bread. I certainly recommend you check this place out.

So you have to wait in line… but it is worth it. Good bread makes life better! The owner is there sometimes and is friendly and informative. I’ve been freezing loaves and they always defrost perfectly. Excellent quality 🙂 Best bread it Tucson

A League Of Its Own. They are using ingredients, ovens, yeast starters that are a cut above. Combined with Thoughtful Variety. Personal Attention. Community Focused. Clearly Blessed.
Do consider joining the sidewalk line, meet birds-of-a-feather neighbors, get bread recommendations direct from the Artisan artist.
Experience a group that understands the simple beauties of serving Bread to our Barrio.

Even after studying the menu before my turn in line, I still had trouble deciding. Thankfully the staff was patient and helped me out! We waited about half an hour in a line that was halfway down the sidewalk. It was worth going to try their bread. The heritage loaf was my personal favorite but the tortillas and pretzel were also a hit!
