Absolutely to die for. My husband and I don’t go out often so when we do we like to find the nicest spots around to try their food. This steakhouse has just taken our number 1 slot. We had a server named “gator” who was exceptional throughout our entire experience, he was attentive, easy to relate to, quick, and a problem solver he went above and beyond to get us what we wanted even when the request was more difficult. just all over exactly what you could hope for with a server.

To start we had the beef tartar, 12 oysters, and a bottle of True Myth. The beef tartar was the freshest I have ever seen.

For dinner we split the Beef Wellington (16oz) which was a smart move as I don’t believe there is a chance I could have finished it alone. With this we got the bone marrow mashed potatoes, asparagus, and the truffle fries. It was all amazing. But that Beef Wellington, it’s the next day and my mouth is still watering. It was by far the best steak I have ever had (and we go to a lot of high end steakhouses). I told my husband if I’m ever on my death bed I want the beef Wellington from this restaurant as my final meal.

The sides were all perfectly done we had the asparagus, bone marrow mashed potatoes, and the truffle fries. The asparagus had the slightest crunch but was cooked well, it had a wonderful butter sauce that was paired with it. The bone marrow mashed potatoes were absolutely delicious and paired externally well with the steak, and the truffle fries were delicious and came with a creamy dip that made them even better.

The portions were exceptional, we rarely leave food on the table and if I can’t finish something my husband typically can. That wasn’t the case here even with skipping desert we had to wrap up some food to take home.

Over all the experience was wonderful, gator really helped heighten our experience, and we will be back for more beef Wellington. If you are looking for a truly nice steak house with some of the freshest cuts we have ever tasted, some great wine, and don’t mind spending some money on exceptional food, we highly suggest checking out the Barrington steakhouse.

The only thing we will change is next time I think we will spend the entire night trying more bottles of wine and enjoying the evening.

My visit to Barrington was fantastic, highlighted by truly excellent food that was fresh and perfectly prepared. The service was top-notch, with our server being consistently kind and attentive, always checking to make sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was also a major plus, as the nice, soft lighting created a very warm and inviting ambiance, making for a delightful overall dining experience. This was my second time here after a few years and I will surely be coming back again.

My friend came into town for her birthday/American Thanksgiving dinner. She ordered a steak that was well done, Chicago style. First off, they mixed her order with her husband’s steak, which was medium rare, and they both got the wrong steak. The two steaks were sent back, and the second attempt of my friend’s well-done steak came out medium, which she could not eat. The third attempt came out medium to medium-well, at which point she gave up on her birthday dinner. They gave her and her husband some free drinks and took care of her bill, which was nice. However, that does not make up for her having a very disappointing experience on one of the few nights that she is in town. She never got her well-done steak and just ate around her medium to medium-well steak. On top of that, there was a note on the reservation about it being her birthday dinner, which there was no mention of.

Furthermore, when we got there, they initially wanted to sit us at a high top in the lounge despite it being a dinner reservation. When I asked for us to be sat at a table due to having a baby, the manager in the front was defensive by saying that we did not have a note about having a baby with us, which is true. She also had a tone. I did not feel welcome within minutes of being there. She could have just acknowledged that our preference for a table was not a high top, especially since we made a reservation ahead of time for a birthday dinner.

We paid for our dinner with $20 off despite us eating alone and our whole experience being centered around them simply not being able to make my friend’s birthday dinner. On top of that, we ordered soft veggies for our baby with two teeth and specifically asked for soft, and the veggies came out chewy and unsafe to eat. We had to ask them to steam it again. It is not about the money, but putting a $20 price on our whole experience is almost degrading.

This was sadly our worst dining experience in Halifax so far. This picture is the third attempt at my friend’s well-done steak, at which point she simply gave up, and the servers did not care to correct the experience.

Had a beautiful dinner last night at the Barrington Steak House and Oyster Bar. The meal was exceptional. I had the Baron Ribeye and my son has the Cigar Tenderloin. Both steaks were absolutely delectable. We enjoyed the bone marrow mashed potatoes and had asparagus with Bernaise sauce. Also the gravy that came with it was flavourful and did not disappoint. Our server was lovely and helpful.

After the 18% tip the bill came to just over 300$ for 2 of us.

I would definitely go again for a special occasion. I loved the elegant ambiance ❤️

One of the best suppers I’ve ever had. The steak was cooked to perfection, the creamed corn with chilly crisp UNREAL, bone marrow potatoes out of this world. If you’re looking for a special treat I HIGHLY recommend visiting you will NOT be disappointed ❤️❤️

I was craving the beef Wellington so I mentioned that in my reservation. Our server (I believe her name is Theresa or Duresa- sorry I asked the name after the meal and a bottle of wine!) inquired about it as soon as we were seated since the Wellington needed an hour. I immediately confirmed and while waiting she helped us with combining 3 different personalities to choose a wine to suite us all and helped with the starters we needed as well. Ambiance was elegant. Server was above and beyond. Food was to die for! There’s more – the leftovers! We couldn’t take them with us so they refrigerated them for us and we collected it the next day! Now that’s hospitality!

Our server Gaétan, absolutely top shelf service . The attention to every detail and small nuances made the evening for our celebratory night out.
Food was as good as we remembered from our last trip to Halifax.
The restaurant is one of quiet refineries at its best. Intimate dining is absolutely possible.
Considering the abysmal experience we had the evening previous, at a new spot on the restaurant scene, this could not have been scripted any better.
Huge shout out to the chef and all the kitchen staff.
What a gem of a restaurant Halifax. Get out and treat yourselves and support this wonderful spot.

It was our 2 years anniversary and we spent it in this beautiful place. What a beautiful discovery and experience. Food was great, but the service was even better and made the experience unforgettable. Grace and Neil made us want to come back to this restaurant, even if we’re only here for 3 nights! ​Had dinner here yesterday and the experience was absolutely amazing.
​I have to highlight the Butter Aged Steak—it was incredible. The beef flavor was rich and intense, and it was cooked perfectly.
​I actually visited about a year or two ago and had the Dry Aged steak. It was good back then, but yesterday’s meal was on another level. You can really tell that the kitchen has stepped up their game and the quality has significantly improved.
​I hope the team keeps up this fantastic standard. I will definitely be coming back!

This is our second time here, and we came specifically for the beef Wellington. The first time was fantastic, but unfortunately, this time it wasn’t as good. It tasted cold, like it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while. On the bright side, the oysters Rockefeller was just as amazing as the first time I tried it. Overall, the service, atmosphere, and other food were great. I just hope the beef Wellington can be more consistent.
