I don’t know where people’s reviews are coming from? This place is worth two and a half stars at best! The burgers are small and not me to order. The sweet potato fries had the taste and consistency of something coming from the microwave. It was all bland and tasteless. Mac and cheese was decent.

Such good food!! We had Lauren as our server. She was very sweet and took good care of us. This place has 11 big screen TVs and lots of good seating. We got the pretzels for our appetizer. They had a garlic butter with a light salty seasoning and they were fluffy fresh. My husband got the Cajun chicken sandwich with fries and said it was very flavorful and had a good kick to it. I got the ranch chicken sandwich (with no bacon) and coleslaw. Probably the best coleslaw I’ve had in my life. Chicken was so fresh and delicious! There are a bazillion more things we want to try on the menu, so we will definitely be back!

First let me take the time and tell Eric the chef at Barrel House… you picked, and made an Amazing Burger!! The flavor and presentation were amazing!! Thank you for making our experience memorable, and the waitress did a great Job!!! We will be coming back to this location most definitely!!
But like I was saying in the beginning when trying something new, if you don’t know what to order make it interesting for the cook in the back… ask them what they cook best and have them bring it to you, every time we have done it it has been a win-win situation, not only was the food fresh and the presentation amazing, but the food they made was great. It really came out terrific and we’re going to be trying this at every different location and see what they come up with.! Thank you Barrel House Upscale Tavern

I’ve ate here a few times now and love it! The service has been fantastic and the food is just as good! My favorite two menu items I’ve had so far are the pretzels and the chicken Caesar salad. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried so far other than the portabella mushroom fries. I typically like all things mushroom but these just tasted like fried batter and oil.

Decided to try it out after I heard good recommendations, but was disappointed in the burgers. They taste like typical frozen patties, little to no flavor in the patty… toppings were scarce. They served it with the bun off to the side to show it off, but presentation was unimpressive. Toppings added the much needed flavor, but should be twice as much to really make an impact.
Diablo burger and cowboy burgers were ordered. Fries and hash rounds were what you would expect at any diner. Overpriced in my honest opinion. The Bloody Mary tasted OK, lacked spice and had a sweet pickle as a garnish, which threw me off.
The server was nice, just a little slow. Our table they set us up at was dirty so they had to come back and clean it… The atmosphere was decent. I’d come back and try something else, but definitely not going for burgers again.

This place is decorated so amazingly! Whoever spent all the time and money on these decorations, THANK-YOU! You made this experience even better then usual! I had a very merry Christmas experience. Staff was friendly, the chicken wrap was astonishingly filling as well as the garlic broccoli perfectly cooked! 5 stars!

It’s Christmas time here at Barrel House in Marion Iowa. The place is a must see!!!! Please make reservations first,During this season. The pizza is absolutely amazing! The young staff were very nice and appreciative that we stopped in. Try it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!!! Another great experience here again tonight, PERFECT PIZZA!!!!!

Tonight I decided to go on a date with my significant other, and they suggested barrel house. I pass it all the time going to the YMCA and so I said sure.
I was not busy at all and we were seated immediately. Rachel was our waitress and the service was fantastic! We ordered our drinks which were brought out quickly and then our food. Once our food arrived, I noticed they had dusted it with the spicy seasoning that I requested be held. So they took it back to the kitchen. A couple minutes later they brought it back out, but to my surprise it was the same plate, bun, etc. If food is sent back it is a no no unless it is a steak or something similar asking to be cooked further, to be sent back out to the table after multiple people touched it.
The manager Heidi, saw that I was not happy and immediately came over and asked what was wrong. She was not happy and said that she would fix it at once!! She came back in a couple minutes and said they are making it fresh. To top it off they said the meal was on the house! That was shocking and above and beyond. I was in no way expecting that level of service.
We did also say that we were wanting to order desert, and without a step she said, no problem and that is on us as well.. This level of service is incredibly rare, and it should not be, but having people truly care about you and your experience is refreshing.
Rachel and Heidi, you now have a customer for life. Please keep up the great work, and we will be returning shortly!!!

Barrel house is in a nice location on the North side of Marion. Easy to get to. The restaurant is clean which it should be since it has only been open a couple of weeks. The food was very good, service was great and they have lots of TVs. The burgers were cooked right and tasted good. I really appreciate the many gluten free options. The fries were good nothing special. They have soup of the day which was chili. It was good with big chunks of meat. We will be back to try the pizza!!!
