Truly a Columbia gem. We came for my dad’s birthday just after opening for dinner service. Started with the ricotta gnudi, and moved on to the shrimp and grits, salmon, duck breast, and cumin lamb pappardelle. Everything was delicious and well-executed, you can easily tell the quality of the cook’s technical skill from the product. One of the places in CoMO that has a great rotating menu with local, seasonal ingredients. Lovely natural lighting alongside a warm, inviting interior. Service was polite and respectful, and it was a perfect meal for a special day.

Fantastic food, drinks, and service. Had the wagyu cheeseburger, chili, Mac & cheese, and split the cheese board. No complaints on any of the food- everything was fresh, as described, and exceeded expectations. It made me do a happy dance ☺️. Cocktails were fairly priced and came out in a reasonable time.

We ordered both boards offered on the menu, the warm olives and french fries. Everything was so good! Our server explained both boards in detail for us as well as answered our questions. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. This was a meal for a girls night out and it was everything I had hoped it would be!

Columbia, MO is lucky to have an establishment like Barred Owl. Every dish and cocktail is crafted with care and precision. The owners order local beef and pork which the staff processes in house. It’s the freshest quality of food and cocktails in town. I enjoy the diverse, seasonal food and drink menu. Check their website to see the menu options, but recently there’s been an appetizer of Lamb Hearts with fresh greens and potato salad that is delicious. They always have a smash style pimento cheeseburger with fries that is so tasty. For drinks i enjoy the old fashion or a cold black heart.

What a wonderful eclectic place. The food has variety and is very unique. The shrimp and grits were delicious. The steak was excellent. A lasagna with white rabbit!? Finally a pimento cheeseburger with fries. Yes, they have it all here. The service was outstanding and the waitress was very attentive. The place was packed for dinner and this was a weekday. I highly recommend it when you want to try new cuisine. The atmosphere was nice and local artist paintings adorned the walls.

Went here today for dinner while waiting for the mechanic. It was absolutely delicious. We got the sweet potato hummus that felt both sweet and savory, served with warm pita. We split the hearty and fresh pot roast and the OMT (named after Old Man Tom – who was their oldest employer – still alive at that time) sandwich which also seemed to balance freshness and crunchy texture with sinfully goodness and homemade feels, like an elevated version of what your mom would make you in your lunchbox RE: the (fat slice) of bologna. Squishy bun and the same fry type as McD’s with (3) options of dipping. We opted for the black garlic aioli and good old fashioned ketchup.
Service was lovely; felt humane and attentive without being overbearing. The Fitz’s root beer was low carbonated with high flavor. YUM. Would strongly recommend for a “nicer” meal along your way. It was under a hundo buckeroos including tip for not only a wonderful experience off road, but a meal in a nice establishment you’ll gladly pay for that feels familiar enough with its mom’s cookin’ vibe meets nicer than you’d make yourself along the road (imagine the save in all the clean up).
Beautiful break away from the road while we waited. I’ll never forget THE HUMMUS.

We stopped in at this old favorite while visiting CoMo. It was the best food I’ve had in over a year. The rabbit parmesan was the best rabbit I’ve ever eaten and the maple pork chop was amazing. Highly recommend Barred Owl to anyone.

Wonderful food and service. Menu items were fresh and creatively prepared and presented. Incredible selection of liquors at the bar. Much appreciate the prices of the drinks on the drink menu. The bathroom was clean. The facility is entirely accessible. So why only two stars for atmosphere? It was very noisy inside the restaurant. I

The food was excellent. The haggis and meatballs had very good flavor and the lamb pasta was so tasty juicy and tender. The service was excellent. Place was pretty noisy and had no deserts besides that we had a great experience here.

I found this place to be underwhelming. I ordered the blackberry and peach salad which was recommended by the waitreess. The salad is described in the following order fennel, peach, blackberry and lardo. The salad had three micro slices of fennel and was COVERED in lardo. It was a lardo salad with some other stuff. The blackberries were bitter and clearly not fresh. To save the night, I got the scotch egg which was unique and very tasty. I liked the romesco sauce and pickled onions with the fatty scotch egg. My table also ordered the fries which I thought were overcooked and annoyingly small pieces (end of bag?). Wouldn’t return and uncertain about all the hype. Maybe I just ordered wrong.
