The margarita was delicious, the birria plate was awesome but the price for the plates is entirely too high, was charged extra for rice and beans, and only received 3 of the (amazing) small tortillas each to wrap. Asked for hot sauce and was charged $3 for a tiny ramekin of chili crisp oil. If I’m in the area again I’ll stop in for a drink but skip the food.

The food was amazing. We couldn’t stop ordering more plates. The scallop appetizer was so refreshing and delicious! They also have a shrimp weekend special that was just packed full of flavor. My husband had the Birria taco dish and I had to fight him to a bite. The mezcal drinks were also done very well, we loved it. Before we left, the owner gave us two shots on the house because she knew we were from out of town. This was such a great dining experience, highly recommend!!

As others have said the food and alcohol selection is pretty great. I mean the mezcals they have on menu are quite phenomenal and different. The mezcal margarita was wonderful and spicy like I asked for. My one complaint was the salt the used for the rim, it was almost too salty which was really jarring.

The food was delicious and quick. Guacamole, nice and creamy. The quesabirria was yummy and the vegetarian tacos were solid.

I think my complaint is the same as everyone else’s – pricing. 2 tacos for almost 20 bucks is high. Listen I get the idea of quality ingredients that lead to quality food, but I felt like this pushed a little too far on that idea.

We’ll certainly be back because we loved the space and the patio and the drinks, but not as frequently had the pricing been a bit more reasonable.

Love the spot, highly recommend to anyone that wants quality Mexican food that reminds you of CDMX.

Small plates Mexican restaurant with good service and a nice evening atmosphere. Food was quite good with fun flavor mixes. The drinks were excellent and I’d definitely return just to grab a drink sometime.

Cute Mexican restaurant with a cozy bar in the front room and more restaurant seating in the back and an outdoor patio. We came here for dinner and had the cochinita pibil plate and octopus tostada, both were delicious. The cochinita was especially excellent with the handmade tortillas that came on the side. The meat was tender and flavorful yet not too salty or greasy. We also had the regular margarita and the prickly pear margarita, both were great as well. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a good Mexican bite and lively atmosphere.

While the food and cocktails were delicious and authentic I do agree with other reviewers that the portions are small. The tetela was unique and the tacos were so flavourful. Presentation was beautiful. But $10 for one taco is a bit steep. Many of the things on the menu were not available and we left slightly hungry.

We were greeted warmly and encouraged to try some of the staple dishes from Mexico, which we loved! The drinks were amazing, atmosphere perfect. Cute patio to sit with the family outside or inside.

A tiny gem in Union Square, Somerville. A small but excellent selection of wines and some truly stupendous cocktails (their margaritas are deadly good). The selections we had were wonderfully made and their molé sauce was fantastic. No matter what, get the flan…always get the flan, you won’t be sorry.

Barra features tasty Mexican street food, delicious drinks, and charming decor. The prices are a bit steep for the small portion sizes, but each dish is packed with flavor and creative sets of ingredients. The octopus tostada and beef/cactus taco were particularly good.

I visited Barra with my friend Ana and enjoyed some delicious appetizers. The drinks were amazing, though we actually had a perfect wine recommendation from our wonderful server, Will. The whole team was welcoming and treated us very well, but Will especially took care of us. He suggested a sparkling orange wine that was chilled to perfection and even swapped out our water. I loved the presentation, the decor, and the playlist was fantastic. Everything was spot on!
