I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday at BarChef New York! We tried a bunch of drinks from their modernist menu and they were all unique and nice in their own ways. The staff was really friendly – they even showed and made us try their infusions/extracts that they use in their drinks. They served us complimentary welcome drinks and yet another round of complimentary cocktails in the end as a birthday present. Thank you for a great time!

The ambiance is pretty cool. You get the view of the empire state building. It’s got a cozy, chic vibes with mood lighting and modern finishes. However, they arranged the tables so close to each other that there is little personal space or privacy.

The drinks and food were excellent. They cost a fortune, but you get some good quality cocktails and food to munch on.

The service was horrendous. They sat us down and our server basically forgot about us. We had to wait 10+ minutes each time we wanted to order or ask for the check.

While this place is certainly unique with its dramatic cocktail presentations, with the very high prices, it feels like a tourist trap that caters to social media hype.

Absolutely recommend this place, my husband and I love to try out new places and BarChef has become an absolute favorite. We came him on Monday and came back the following day, that’s how much we liked it. It’s a long review but totally worth the read. From the contemporary menu I got the toasted coconut punch which was absolutely delicious and my favorite from that part of the menu. My husband got the charred strawberry and it was also delicious as well as the cafe de olla. Then the modernist where do I begin? We ordered the jardín de Monet and the sailors mojito and we got hooked! It’s truly a work of art from the edible components, to the scents and the actual presentation, and to top it all of the drinks were so well crafted. We were hooked so on Tuesday we came back and ordered the golden honey penicillin and it has become my new favorite drink and that burnt honey sorbet was probably one of the best sorbets I’ve ever had, I wish I could have bought a quart of it to go. Then my husband got the black truffle, the chocolate with the truffle was such an excellent pairing, and the drink was so smooth and the coconut flavor really shined through. Lastly the illuminated eucalyptus, the presentation was so pretty and the white chocolate bite was so refreshing and unique, the drink it self wasn’t what I would usually go for but it was still amazing, my husband really loved it. It’s safe to say you cannot go wrong with anything here. We also ordered some food to munch on while we drank and it was all so fresh and the quality was also great. On top of it all the staff was what made it even more memorable. They were all so passionate about their work and they were very happy to explain everything to us. This place is definitely worth it and I can see it being the IT place for a date night or even just for a fun night out.

Really nice atmosphere with the large sky light, mix of bar and lounge seating, and homemade extracts. All the flashy cocktails online are quite expensive but there is a nice selection of standard NYC lounge priced cocktails. We will warn that some are very sweet so make sure you read the entire description for any mention of sweetness. O got the toasted coconut marshmallow cocktail and didn’t get any toasted notes or pineapple but do get a lot of sweetness.

An absolutely incredible experience, easily one of the best cocktail bars in NYC You can really feel the Frankie Solarik artistry in every drink. While the prices are higher, it is 100% worth it for the quality and creativity.

I tried the Palo Santo and it’s officially one of my all-time favorite cocktails. The other signature experiential sets (my friends tried them) are also something truly unique. Btw, don’t sleep on the food! We got 4 grilled lobster tails for only $36… omg, what an amazing deal.

Stopped in for a cocktail before going to MSG.
It’s a beautiful space with a wonderful skylight view of the Empire State Building.

We were 2 of 4 people there and sat at a booth. I would have done the bar if I went again to watch the cocktail being made.

My husband had a panipuri cocktail with celery salt. It was kind of like a marg. I had a clarified coconut cocktail that was likely one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had.

The prices are high but the atmosphere makes it a nice treat. We were given a great gin amuse bouche that was a nice treat.

This was the most unique cocktail experience I’ve ever had. I booked “chef’s counter” thinking it was just cheeky marketing for sitting at the bar of a high end cocktail place, but no, it literally felt like sitting at the chef’s counter of a high end restaurant watching the team prep. Every single cocktail we had was a winner, and while pricier, the modernist menu was unlike anything I’ve ever had both aesthetically and in the transformative nature of the drink as you sip.

Shout out to Saaj for being a great guide through our experience, and 1000/10 recommend if you are looking to impress someone whether a New Yorker or visitor!

I had the opportunity to recently visit this bar, and was treated with the excellent service of Josue and Alexander. It is honestly refreshing to be served by someone that is so dedicated to their craft. They know their trade and elevated all their drink creations to a whole new level. They understand their customers and are able to recommend drinks based on what their customers needs. Not just that they explained why all the components of the drink is needed. You can tell they are pure artist on their craft. I would recommend this place to any of my friends and colleagues.

I had an amazing birthday weekend at Bar Chef, and a huge part of that was thanks to the incredible bartender, Saaj Visaria. From the moment we sat down, Saaj brought great energy, professionalism, and true craftsmanship to every drink. The cocktails were not only creative and perfectly balanced, but also thoughtfully tailored to our tastes—each one better than the last.

Saaj went above and beyond to make the experience feel special, remembering preferences, explaining the drinks, and creating a fun, welcoming atmosphere that elevated the entire night. It truly felt like more than just drinks—it was an experience.

If you’re going to Bar Chef, do yourself a favor and sit at the bar. Saaj is a standout and made my birthday weekend unforgettable.

Everything was flawless, no notes at all. Alexander was outstanding! I initially planned to stop at two cocktails, but quickly changed my mind because each one was so creative, engaging, and beautifully crafted. I’m genuinely loving fancy cocktail night and may just turn it into a tradition.
