We recently had the pleasure of trying Barakat Halal Kitchen – Food Truck in Katy, Texas, and it was a delightful culinary surprise! What instantly caught our attention was the mention of Tajikistan, which brought back fond memories of enjoying Uzbek cuisine during our Umrah visit to Makkah in January 2025. That nostalgic connection—and our curiosity fueled by many travel videos of the region—led us to stop by and explore their offerings.
For our first visit, we kept it simple and ordered their Chicken Samsa and Chicken Shawarma, and both dishes were a hit. The Samsas were incredibly crispy, flavorful, and piping hot, making them the perfect savory snack to enjoy in our car on a warm sunny Texas day. Their texture and flavor instantly transported us to the streets of Central Asia.
As for the Chicken Shawarma, we saved that for later at home. While it was still tasty, the wrap became slightly soggy during transit. We can’t wait to try it freshly made next time—definitely planning to eat it on the spot for the full flavor experience.

I tried their Barakat shawarma and the classic shawarma both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and well balanced, and the portions were generous. Unlike many other places, they’re not stingy at all and don’t charge extra for additional sauces, which makes the whole experience even better.
