Reviews
Pictured is the Cochinita Benedict which is unique with the esquite fritter. We’ve also had the avocado toast, guacamole, coconut French toast and Churroulette (careful one has habanero!) and all were good!!
I definitely recommend this place for a fun date, girl’s night or birthday event!!!
From the moment we were seated, things felt off. Our party of seven was placed at a high-top table that honestly didn’t seem sturdy enough to hold us all comfortably. Between the wobbling table and a chair that felt like it was about to give out, I spent most of the meal worried about whether I’d end up on the floor.
The service was painfully slow. We’re talking an hour and a half just to get a burger — during a brunch service that has a 2–2.5 hour table limit. That’s unacceptable. Drinks were no better. After waiting and waiting with no sign of our server, I eventually had to go up to the bar myself just to get something to drink. Throughout the experience, it felt like the staff had little interest in the customer experience.
As for the food, it was underwhelming at best. My meal arrived cold and completely unseasoned — bland, uninspired, and definitely not worth the price. For a place that seems to pride itself on being trendy and in-demand, the quality simply doesn’t match the hype.
The atmosphere didn’t help either. The music was obnoxiously loud, blasting from giant speakers that made it nearly impossible to have a conversation. While I’ll give credit where it’s due — the DJ was actually very good — the volume level completely overpowered any chance of enjoying brunch with friends.
Overall, this felt like an overpriced, overhyped spot that’s more focused on being trendy than delivering good food or service. Sadly, I won’t be back.
$500+ wasted
We came here for Valentine’s Day, and WOW—what an unforgettable experience! From the incredible food to the top-tier hospitality, everything exceeded our expectations. The management and staff go above and beyond to make sure you have a great time.
Now, about the food…
Korean Tacos – Bursting with flavor, these were an instant favorite.
Rattlesnake Burger – The perfect balance of heat and savoriness, with sauces that elevate every bite. My only wish? A little more spice! If you order something called “Rattlesnake” and don’t expect a bite, that’s on you.
Yes, you might see reviews mentioning slow service, but here’s the real deal: management here is ON IT. If you need anything, they make it happen.
Huge thanks to the team for making our day so special—we’ll definitely be back!
I went back to try their dinner options but the camera did not eat first this time… I can confidently say that every plate I’ve tried has been great. The food never misses!
Apart from the food, the music and customer service are always on point. I love coming here with friends, but it’s also one of my favorite solo spots.
From brunch, to dinner, to nightlife experience 10/10 — highly recommend Tabu!
I ordered the steak frites, and it was absolutely on point — perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavor. The fries were crispy with just the right amount of seasoning, and the presentation was sleek without being over the top. I also tried their new peppercorn Paloma, which turned out to be a total standout. It had that perfect balance of spice, citrus, and smooth tequila — definitely one of the best cocktails I’ve had in Chicago lately.
