We only had drinks before heading inside for sushi. Super cute date spot or just hang out with friends. I’d go back here! One suggestion would be moving the DJ/Speakers away from the physical bar so that guests who want to visit can without that distraction. Love the idea of it!

When we entered Junto (main, indoor restaurant) we were told the dining was fully booked, but that we could help ourselves to the bar or outdoor seating. So we sat at the bar and were told a few minutes later “not that bar” (we didn’t realize they meant the Hotel Motto bar that’s also connected to it) – note: confusing layout of 3 different but connected establishments.
We then moved to the Tiki themed Bar Kapu outdoor area with mismatched seating (different seat heights and design). First big detractor of the night was the swarm of flies that come for your food. I had hoped for oscillating fans to keep them at bay, and to provide a cooling breeze, but that was wishful thinking for a 91° 6ish time slot.
The service was fine and attentive, however I found it odd that they asked for a credit card to keep for the duration of our stay – I guess for an open tab – which I found to be an odd practice. I’ve worked in the credit card business, and that is a practice we would never recommend to consumers. It’s one thing to hand it over at the end of the meal for them to promptly run it through the credit card kiosk, and another to bring it somewhere else for a considerable amount of time before it’s been swiped. I don’t normally carry my physical card around and rely on my phone’s digital wallet, so luckily one of us had a card on hand.
Now regarding the food – the veggie dumplings were fine – but for $14, definitely pricy for an appetizer. We had the $21 poke bowl which was nicely presented with a few avocado slices and seaweed salad, a decent amount of Bluefin tuna cubes, but it had way too much rice for serving size proportions and the tuna had an off putting aftertaste. My guests and I agreed that YW Poke’s $14 bowls were way more flavorful and come with more toppings and sauce. Yes, I’ve had really awesome poke in other States, particularly O’ahu, but I’m comparing it to another local venue for an apples to apples comparison. The $18 Rainbow roll wasn’t as good as the $16.25 Rainbow roll at Sushi house, another local site, which comes with freebie appetizers – so it’s not something we’d order again.
We understand that commercial retail rent must be high for any new builds given the B’ville Square real estate – and hands down, the decor in the backyard patio is eclectic, as is the attached Junto restaurant, but pricing should match the quality of the food. I’ve had better at AOI, also on the Square, even though their quality has come down a notch from their debut days.
We won’t be trying Bar Kapu again, but we will give Junto a chance even though the kitchen is the same, but only because their menu has more offerings. I’ve already reserved a brunch seating for tomorrow, and will post my review afterwards.

Located in probably one of the prettiest hotels I’ve ever been too. It’s pretty new but everything we had was awesome. As far as I know its one of the only Hawaiian/ tiki themed bars around. It’s only outdoor seating but they have tons of space with Cornhole, Jenga, and giant connect 4. All the bartenders are wearing Hawaiian shirts. So it really fits the theme. We got the losen mai tai, the flamingo, and the yu zu pretty. They were all very good, and came in cool tiki cocktail glasses. We also got the butter mochi and the churros both were very good. I think the churros were better but the mochi was also very good. Mochi can be a pretty rare treat around here so it’s cool to see it on the menu. We also got the lettuce wraps, it a little different than what you would think of standard Asian lettuce wraps but it was a very well seasoned ground chicken with a sort of thousand island dressing and pickled ginger. They were very good. I really want to come back for the wagu sando and the pork bao buns. Overall a great experience and I will definitely be back.

Nice little patio bar. They have two domes you can reserve right now for the cold weather and several heaters for other tables. Drinks were a bit pricey but it was a fun spot and dog friendly

Bar Kapu is such a cute spot! You can sit outside and enjoy the tropical vibes with a live DJ, which makes for a great atmosphere. The food is fresh and the prices are reasonable, making it an easy choice for a fun night out.

Good drinks and food. Main problem is that they are never open when their hours say they are. Call ahead to confirm they’re open. Even then it’s a toss up.

I can only say it is a nice outdoor bar area, they had live music as well. I didn’t get food or drinks here, but my friends said they enjoyed the slidera and they have sweet drinks if you enjoy that.

Amazing tiki bar! They had a variety of fun seating options and some lawn games which provided a very laid back and enjoyable atmosphere. I tried the old fashioned which was absolutely delicious. They also had an assortment of bar foods available which I first thought were pricey until I saw the portions they provided. Definitely a hidden gem worth checking out!
