Came in with a group of 8 after doing some water sports and needed a casual place to eat at. The serving sizes were pretty big and the food was tasty. As the name implies, their chili is very good. The service sadly wasn’t very good, mostly due to lack of employees I would assume. But if you have time to kill and need a place to chill and eat, this place was a great place to come to!

I Was walking around occoquan and decided to stop here for a quick lunch. This place wasn’t bad or good. Would I go here again? Probably not ….as they are extremely overpriced . The chips and salsa we received were warm and stale , I could see they leave the chip bucket open and salsa out so that’s probably why the chips were old. I got some spicy steak that was okay , it was drenched in butter but the butter didn’t make it better lol . My bf got a big burrito with just chili in it and that was okay as there’s really nothing in it but chili . Other than that , service was nice our waitress was very kind .

I still don’t know why I left a tip. I guess I felt bullied into at least leaving something. We split the check, so we both tipped out of human decency – though we didn’t find it there.

Love Bar J!! The staff is incredible, especially Mel. My Dad, myself and our dogs love to come here. She is literally the friendliest person ever and is so welcoming. We come here in hopes that she’ll be taking care of us. The chili here is incredible too. This isn’t just with us. I’ve been visiting here for years and the staff here is nothing short of AMAZING.

MEL was phenomenal!!! Chili recipes changed since I ate at Bar J years ago and I’m now allergic to it because of the green pepper. Mel went out of her way to apologize and remove it. Best customer service I’ve had in YEARS!

Yuck. Been here twice. They have no idea how to make Mexican food. But they LOVE cheese and lettuce. Service isn’t great. The atmosphere was good, with live music. I grew up in this area. Now I know why I’d never eaten here.

The service, location and atmosphere are awesome. The food however (at least the Mexican “Hot” Burrito and Chicken Bubba) were remarkably average. The Burrito wasn’t spicy in the least and tasted like it was heated up in the microwave. Because of the great staff and location, probably will try again and order another dish to check out. Cheers !

Great food in the heart of historic occoquan! Came here and was not disappointed. The staff did their best to separate us and follow some social distancing. The burritos are great, as was the sangria. Excited to come back again soon.

I went walking Sunday morning around Occoquan like I do often and decided to stop and have breakfast somewhere. I found this place and think that the food is really good. The French toast was soft how I like it and the cheesecake flavored whip cream was amazing. I also had eggs, bacon, and sausage. The eggs were also really good, my only complaint is that I felt the sausage was overcooked and the bacon was a little bit too salty. Hold back on over cooking the meat, its supposed to be juicy. My waitress Fernanda was great, and I do intend to come back since I’m a Tx girl and try some of the chilli.

Delicious, especially the Texas chili, and plenty of other tex-mex options. Awesome and friendly service. Also, free chips and one of the best house salsas I’ve tried. You can clearly see their standard for excellence in the interrior decor and outdoor, waterfront yard / patio area–of course, along with their food. One of old town’s best-kept secrets that should definitely NOT be a secret.
