Bar J chili Parlor is a great stop in Occoquan to eat and chill! Chips were good sauce was good too with a spicy aftertaste. I enjoyed a delicious cheesy, onion, shredded chicken quesadilla that I dipped in guacamole we also had chicken tenders which were good, the atmosphere overlooking the bay was awesome and our server Nate was GREAT!

I have eaten here several times. Most recently on a Wednesday for lunch. The server was excellent, as always seems to be the case. There were only a few customers so the food arrived quickly. There are lots of choices in Occoquan, but when I feel like eating Tex-Mex or Chili, Bar J never disappoints. In warmer weather sitting outside is very pleasant.

Came in with a group of 8 after doing some water sports and needed a casual place to eat at. The serving sizes were pretty big and the food was tasty. As the name implies, their chili is very good. The service sadly wasn’t very good, mostly due to lack of employees I would assume. But if you have time to kill and need a place to chill and eat, this place was a great place to come to!

I had a great experience here. The food was tasty and had fresh ingredients. I tried the wet burrito with beef and beans. Came out hot and fresh. The service from the staff was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back, hopefully to catch the taco Tuesday deals!!!

Great chili? Seriously?
Cause I went on Taco Tuesdays for the first time and the waiter is excellent, but the food! Or meat which is the beef and chicken made for the tacos was disgusting! Sorry to say it…but It taste awful.
Who can mess up a taco? Unbelievable.
I suggest that the cook purchase Taco seasoning by “McCormick” at the grocery store, And do something because….
Whatever you have been doing when cooking the meat for tacos, please. STOP!
Because it smells and looks like dog food! With no flavor.
Try this:
With McCormick, ” taco seasoning powder”…
All you have to do is add the seasoned powder and water That’s it.! To create a sauce for the meat.
You’ll increase customer visits tremendously when the tacos start to taste better..
Unless it was done on purpose to keep people from ordering a lot. Then! I can understand.

We’ve been coming to Bar Js since it was a hole in the wall on rt 1. The chili is always amazing, but I usually get the devils steak. The most recent visit we both got Texas Chili Mac, dry. This is one of our favorite nostalgic spots to hit. Not sure if its everyone’s cup of tea, but its a fun spot to sit outside and chill while eating some comfort food.

The service, location and atmosphere are awesome. The food however (at least the Mexican “Hot” Burrito and Chicken Bubba) were remarkably average. The Burrito wasn’t spicy in the least and tasted like it was heated up in the microwave. Because of the great staff and location, probably will try again and order another dish to check out. Cheers !

I just ate cafeteria food, straight up. Oh and I payed $17 which plus two drinks and tax is probably more like $40. Who owns this joint? Because they obviously take no pride in it. Probably just a nice “investment” in occoquan. And it’s been here a while too. I guess if booze is your poison that’s fine but why is the food at this level? There’s no pride here and the only motivation is money. At least the patio seating is nice ♂️ I feel like occoquan itself is partly to blame.

The food here is great. You can’t beat their chili. I love that you can get beans or no beans. Sitting outside on the back patio by the river is amazing when the weather is nice. Recommend!

Our waiter was terrible. We waited 25 minutes for two burritos when the place was dead. Our waiter wasn’t prepared to take our order (didn’t even have a note pad on him) and got one of he orders wrong. After advising him it was wrong, he had an attitude and essentially threw the bill on our table and walked away.
It’s sad because the chili is very good at this restaurant but the customer service was slow and lacking. Also the location is great and it’s being wasted.
